Best Route from Dallas to DW

I have been researching our road trip to Disney and noticed that there are two routes we can take. One goes through Jackson, MS then south to Mobile. The other goes through Lafayette to Mobile.

Can you guys let me know which is the best route to take and why? We will be leaving about 8pm on a Saturday. Not sure if that makes any difference.

It looks like the route through Lafayette, LA is slightly longer - about 30 miles longer - so I'd go with the route through Jackson. I wouldn't expect any serious traffic problems on either route on a Saturday.

If you're traveling in winter, I'd recommend that you take the route that gets you as far south as you can get (I-10) the soonest that you can. In other words, go south and then east rather than east and then south.

We've actually done both, through Lafayette down there and through Jackson on the way back (we live near Tyler). I honestly can't say that one was worse than the other. I just more familiar with the Jackson route since my husband has family there and we drive from Texas to Jackson at least once a year.

That probably doesn't help at all! I can say that I know we only came back through Jackson to visit family. so my husband would probably choose the Lafayette route if given the choice. He refuses to drive to Orlando again, so now we fly.
