We're renting a car one day and driving to Cocoa Beach. What is the best route from POP? And how much will I need for tolls?
Thanks! Only 4 more days til our first trip!
WooHoo!! :cool1: :woohoo: :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

There are several ways to get there. I suggest planning it on an updated map--just easier to "visualize" when following on a map.

From Pop, exit WDW--just follow signs to Interstate 4, (I-4). Follow the signs for Orlando, NOT TAMPA!! Once on I-4, heading north, only a couple of miles from WDW area, you bear right onto Rt 528, the Beachline. (It's previous name was the Beeline and it goes right by the north edge of Orlando Airport) Take 528 about 55 miles or so, until it intersects with Interstate 95 SOUTH. Take I-95 South until you get to the Cocoa Beach exits. We like to take the third(?) Cocoa Beach exit. It is state route 520. Follow 520 east until you are at the beach.

Ron Jon's is on the corner of A1-A and 520, it is the largest beach/surfer shop in the world--or used to be. Anyway, our kids/teens ALWAYS want a RonJon's shirt.

Review to Cocoa Beach. I-4 East/North towards Orlando for a few miles. East on Beachline 528, across state to I-95 south. Exit third(?) Cocoa Beach exit onto 520 East and a straight drive until you hit the beach.

FYI, about 2 miles south from Ron Jon's on A1A in Cocoa Beach is a VERY nice public Beach called Lori Wilson Park. There are lifeguards and nice public buildings to change clothes. As all beach areas, lock valuables in the car trunk--out of sight. Nice place to spend some beach time. Lots of locals there too.

Since you're driving out that far go to the Kennedy Space Center 1st then skip Cocoa Beach and go back to Disney.
Good Luck All,
Joe

traces7, DH and I made this trip in September and I think we paid $3 in tolls each way. We took rt 528(will always be the beeline to me) just as GoofysGr8 described. If you drive south, you can find some really nice(not as crowded) beaches.
