Hi,

We are leaving Friday as my wife is running the Disney Marathon.

I am surprising her with a GF Lagoon View room. Any specific room numbers that you've had good experiences with?

Sounds like I want the Conch Key building right?

I've never stayed here before either -- any insider tips on things to see or not to miss?

Thanks everyone!!

Gregg

Gregg,

Small World, I'm from Rockaway, NJ. As for your best Castle View,
well as you can tell from my list we like Boca Chica. If you can get a Dormer Room that's even better being the room feels larger because of the "High" ceiling. We have always had a good view of the Castle and fireworks, also you can see most everything around the lake. If you look hard between the Poly and Cont. through the trees you can see the words Epcot over the Epcot ball. It's pretty neat.
Good Luck to your wife in the marathon.

Wendi

Thanks Wendi!

This is the first I've heard of views from Boca Chica. Most people seem to suggest Conch Key, so maybe I'll have a better chance for Boca.

Are the dormer rooms on a certain floor? You wouldn't happen to know what room numbers you've had that were good would you?

Thanks for the help.

Gregg

p.s. we live in Long Valley

Gregg,

I just sent you a pm. I hope it helps.

Another vote for Boca Chica. Room 8345 is a corner room with two balconies and is larger than other standard rooms. You can see the castle from both balconies; one faces Narcoossee's and the other faces the MK. This one is rather large. The views are beautiful.

I've had a good castle view room in Big Pine Key as well. I don't remember the room number.

We stayed in Conch Key on our most recent trip at Thanksgiving 2003. We were on the second floor in the room closest to Narcoosees and the boat dock (Rm. 7231). We had a great view of the castle and the Wishes fireworks show. We started off in Boca Chica on the second floor, but we could not see the castle very well because of the trees. It is my understanding that the views from the first floor of Boca Chica are not blocked by the trees because they can trim the branches a little. However, if the leaves are still on the trees when you visit the GF, you will not have a very good view if you are on one of the higher floors. The staff was very accomodating, and we were able to move to Conch Key when a room became available. We have also stayed in a dormer room in Sago Cay that had a great view of the Magic Kingdom. Sago Cay is a little bit farther away from the main building, the monorail, the pools, and the boat dock. Being "off the beaten path" is viewed by some as a plus and others as a minus. We personally loved the secluded feeling. The GF is wonderful. Have a great trip!

Hi Gregg, it really is a Small World. We are from Montville, NJ. Anyway, we stayed in the Big Pine Key, but maybe it was just our rooms, but we didn't have a good view at all.

If your wife is going to be running, maybe you might want to treat her to a massage at the GF Spa after her run.

I loved using the pool there at night and drying off in the fluffy robes. I also loved the breakfast and dinner buffets at 1900 Park Fare. I found the food there really excellent.

Also, if her birthday or your anniversary is near the date of the vacation, you might want to let the GF know and perhaps they will surprise her with some treats upon arrival.

Have a wonderful time! Carolyn

We stayed in Boca Chica, room #8317, and we had a view of everything in the lagoon: Cinderella's Castle, Contemporary, the very tops of the Wilderness Lodge, and the Polynesian. Our view of the castle was to the left, not straight ahead, but we loved this room because of our expansive view of the entire lagoon.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful trip! :sunny:

boca chica 8145. i have stayed in that room 14 times. it's a corner room so its a bit larger and u get 2 patios. my fave thing in the world is sitting on that patio staring at the castle. it's truly magical.

I'll second the dormer rooms on 5 at Boca Chica!!! Wonderful view from Cindy's castle all the way to the Poly. It was fun the first night to figure out that the fireworks in the distance was the Illuminations show at Epcot. :)

Thanks to everyone for the great, great info.

This will be our first stay at the GF and first time away from the kids overnight since the last marathon in 1999!
