Looking for some help - staying at Pop (and a Disney resort) for the first time and wondering what is the best room location and if it is worth sending a room request beforehand. Only 24 days to go
It really depends on what you like is a room. Lake view? Pool view? Close to busses and main building? Quiet? In the thick of it? I personally like ground floor, preferred room, 70s, but after being upgraded to preferred pool lat time, I am in love with that, but not enough to spend the extra money this coming trip.
Whatever resort we stay in my room request is generally the same. Close to the main facilities. I will pay for a preferred room if possible. Only exception was at the Beach Club because what I wanted there was a larger fold out sofa bed.
Like PP said, it depends what matters to you personally.
We have stayed in 90's and 60's and both were great locations. We just asked for high floor near elevator. I think the less you ask for the more likely you are to get it but they are just requests.
when we stay at POP we request building 2 (50's) ground floor
it's remote enough to avoid most of the pedestrian traffic and noise. But it's close enough to make it a very easy walk to the food court/bus stops
It's directly around a pool. And it's on the first parking lot at the entrance of the resort, so no need to drive around the whole resort to go park the car.
We stayed in the 50's building on the third floor with a lake view. Would recommend this as we were able to see the Frozen Fireworks from our room or by stepping out onto the walkway. The 50's building was also close to the buses and lobby/shop/food court area, and only took about 5 minutes walk from the room to the bus stops.
The 50's building was also only a 10 minute walk to AOA, and we got the bus to AOA from the parks a few times due to the queues for the Pop bus being huge!

We have stayed at Pop twice and requested 50's both times - Tramp building overlooking the lake. We asked at check-in re the rooms, with no problems - CM's have the latest info on computer as to which rooms are unoccupied on your arrival date.
