My friends and I are going to Disney World the first week of February 2020, and we have 6 people. What's the best way to book hotel rooms if we want to stay on site? I figured we could do 2 rooms at Art of Animation or 2 rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter. I also saw that there were Family Suites at a few resorts - any recommendations?

Last year we had 6 people total and I ended up booking two rooms by calling. 3 people in each room. Disney happened to make those connecting rooms too - un-requested.
It really worked out well to have the two rooms, two fridges, two bathrooms and four beds.

I've done a family suite at AoA before too, but only with my own family. That also worked out well with the two bathrooms and separate sleeping spaces.

But for 6 adults I would do two rooms over the suite at AoA.

How large are the people who are going? It sounds like it's all adults, is that correct? I wouldn't recommend the family suites - you only get 3 sleeping surfaces so everyone will have to bunk together and it may get uncomfortable. If booking two value rooms, I would recommend Pop as, at least you get 4 queen beds between the two rooms and you will all have a little more space. If you are interested in the PO resorts, consider booking 2 "5th sleeper" rooms at POR (they also have these rooms at CBR). You will end up with 6 sleeping surfaces between the two rooms - 4 queens and 2 smaller murphy beds. Keep in mind, however, the murphy beds will only be useful if you have two in your group who are on the petite side.

Thank you both! Yes, we have 6 adults going (2 guys, 4 girls), and we are all on the smaller side. I think we will definitely look into AoA, Pop Century for value resorts, and Port Orleans and CBR for moderate.

As added caution, the murphy beds in these rooms are slightly larger than a crib mattress and smaller than a twin. Meant for someone age 12 or younger. While a small adult could fit on it, it wouldn't be all that comfortable or equal to the people who get to sleep in the beds.

Thanks for the heads up! I think we'll be comfortable with 6 people and 4 beds in POR, so we wouldn't use the murphy beds.

If that's the case, there is no need to book the "5th sleeper" room as I previously suggested. A regular room would do at POR or POFQ (or CBR) if you go the mod route. It will save you a little money as well.

I would do 3 rooms at a value, 2 people per room.
::yes:: Three rooms = three bathrooms!
Www.Mousesavers.com has POFQ at $232*/$242**/$252*** for the beginning of February 2019, and Pop at $130*/$142**/$172*** for the same period. If you go for a week, a Pop room will cost $1,018 per room, while POFQ would cost $1,684. Two rooms.at POFQ would be $3,368, while the three Pop rooms come to $3,054. Plus taxes, plus (of course) estimated 5% rate increase - and excluding any discounts that might be offered.

That's far enough out that I'd rent DVC points. You could get a 2BR for what you're spending for a value or moderate room. Check out David's for pricing. Dvcrequest.com
