Hi everyone, we are spending 5 days 4 nights at the Newport Bay in August and have booked half board plus vouchers. We don't mind adding some money to them to have better meals but are wondering where the best places for lunch and dinner are?? I know this will have probably been asked lots of times but am new on here so just thought I would ask, thanks :)

It depends how much money you're looking to pay :goodvibes

If money is no object, then Inventions and California Grill tend to be highly recommended.

Coming down the cost scale a little, you can get a nice meal in cafe mickey or either of the stea houses (the one in the village or the silver spur in frontierland).

The blue lagoon and walts tend to get mixed reviews but seem nice enough.

Finally - take a look at the restaurant reviews which are linked from a stickied thread at the top of these boards :thumbsup2

Thank you! :)Am now hoping to have day 1 at Inventions, day 2 at Auberge de Cendrillon, day 3 at Cafe Mickey and day four at Walts so may upgrade to the half board premium! Will the half board premium cover us for these? :confused3
Dani

yes it will cover you for those restaurants - 4 good choices by the way

Thank you! I'm so excited, only booked it yesterday!! Thank god I found this forum! Although you will all be annoyed with me by August!:dance3:

With half board plus vouchers I wold go for the Steakhouse in disney village (my favourite) and Walts (lovely!!) - reviews are on the restaurant threads (including mine!)

restaurant reviews vary, so I pick a top eatery, only to research and find the food cold or poor

one thing to bear in mind, it is often those who had a bad experience that feel moved enough to review (on other websites) so just because alot of reviews slate somewhere, the 99.9% who ate there and had agreat time but just never bothered to post up a review anywhere

Hi, We were there last week and wanted to say that Auberge de Cendrillon is fabulous (as is Cafe Mickey). I saw on your profile you have a DD - this meal was the absolute highlight of my DDs (4yrs) holiday. The princess interaction is wonderful, my DD was in awe. Suzy and Perla the mice had my DS (1yr) squealing with excitement. The food is to die for too - I honestly couldn't fault the restaurant.

i can highly recommend cafe mickey that is a wonderful place for lunch.

Thanks everyone,
We decided we definately want to go to Cafe Mickey for DS 4th birthday and Auberge for DD. We only have half board plus vouchers though and was wondering if I am going to pay the extra to these two restaurants, would it work out the same just to upgrade to premium vouchers? We have two other nights so I didn't know if it was worth getting the premium and then we could go to inventions and Walts too?:confused3 Thanks again!:)
Dani
P.S Sorry it turned into another Half Board question!:rolleyes1

Have took the plunge and booked the premium vouchers! :scared1:my next problem is Inventions or Charcoal grill( Think it's called that:confused3)???
Dani

is it the california grill? i havent ate in either but for kids i would go with inventions for the characters

I'm guessing you mean Inventions or California Grill. In that case, it depends on whether you want a very nice table service meal (California Grill) or a very nice buffet (Inventions).

Both are very good restaurants so it just depends on your personal taste.

Do you mean California Grill? If so I think Inventions as you have young children. This is a character meal and is right next to the CG. If you are in the CG your children will be able to see the characters but not have interaction with them. The food there is brilliant (so is CG though)

Sorry another question everyone! Was thinking of using one of my premium vouchers for Walts but am I wasting money? I could go to Walts on my last day and use the voucher for somewhere else,
Thanks again Dani

I cannot recommend HB Premium vouchers enough!! SUCH good value! So if you are going to add money anyway then definitely upgrade!

That way you can enjoy California Grill and Inventions (both amazing!!), as the vouchers are also worht a lot face value you can use one voucher to cover two meals in a lot of places (for example we used one voucher for 2 mexican buffets at La Grange and only had to pay like 3Euro extra!!

We did the same at Silver Spur steakhouse.

Cafe Mickey is great fun too!

Do you just ask when you book a table if you can use the one voucher? I thought you could only use one voucher per day? These half board vouchers are so confusing! (or maybe thats just me:rotfl:)
I'm now thinking if we did this we would have a voucher for the last day too :cool1: or do they have date's on them :confused3
Sorry for all the questions :)
