I don't eat meat or seafood and my favorites are:
1) Bomas - unbelievable vegetarian choices! Great food.
2) Liberty Tree Tavern - I like the homestyle potatos, green beans, stuffing, etc. They probably do have chicken/turkey broth - but if that doesn't bother you, you can easily skip the turkey and end up with a very filling meal
3) Rose and Crown - if you like mushrooms - they have a wonderful Mushroom appatizer that they will make into a meal size portion. I usually order with a side of their mashed potatos. Very, very good! The mushrooms are floating in a rich cream sauce - so don't try this if you are watching your weight!
4) La Cellier - who knew - a steak house with good food for a vegetarian! It isn't on their menu, but on request they will grill up a wonderful portabello mushroom - and then I add the sides of green beans, mashed potatos, etc. It is great. The bread they serve with the meal could be a meal itself.
The only places I haven't been terribly wild about the selections are:
1) Rainforest Cafe - just not much choice for vegetarians and what they do have tastes rather bland.
2) Cindrella's Royal Table (for Dinner - breakfast is GREAT!) - the only thing they had to offer was a vegatable/pasta dish - very bland and not worth the cost.
These are just my opinion - as you can tell I like substantial meals with potatoes and vegies - not all vegetarians like heavier foods. I have learned that you can often ask for options - other than what is shown on the menu and the chef will usually prepare something to your liking.
My best experience was at Bomas. I was pleased with the selections - but when I started asking what was in some of the dishes the chef came over and I got a complete description of each item and then he went and prepared me the most WONDREFUL mushroom dish with a delicious sauce and really neat looking (and tasting) fried cooked speghetti noodles. He brought it to our table himself and then sat and visited with us a while. It was great. I am sure this was a rare occasion - it was shortly after 9/11/2001 and the restaurant was empty. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours eating and visiting with the chef and the waiter. A wonderful experience!
Here's to finding good veggie options at WDW - they aren't hard to find!
