and have a good meal?
Any recommendations are appreciated!

we had a great meal on the outside patio at rose & crown with an amazing view of illuminations

We always go to the outside seating on the water next to Rose & Crown, and get fish and chips from the stand. Get there early!! Yummy!!

The only place with a great view is the Rose and Crown ( from the patio tables) the thing is, they no longer take requests for that seating nor do they allow you to wait for it since it is so popular. There is some view from both Les Chefs De France and Tokyo Dining..But again it is a window seat and you have a sidewalk full of people and shrubbery/trees in between you and the lagoon, and they do not always accept requests for the window seats. For Cs , the Mexican cantina has a lagoon view.

The Cantina de San Angel is demolished. It's being rebuilt and won't be open for several months.

Tokyo Dining is on the 2nd floor and if you are lucky enough to get one of the tables by the window facing the lagoon you'll have a really nice view.

Another vote for Rose & Crown. Watching Illuminations from the patio was awesome....we requested patio seating in April 2008 but I've been reading here that they no longer allow that request. :( Dinner was good, DH and I both had surf and turf and then switched, he got 2 steaks and I got all the fish. :)

We have 7:40 reservations at the Rose & Crown pub. Do you think that is too early to be able to catch Illuminations from there? I could see about changing it until later if possible.
I know we will order an appetizer and won't order all at once if that helps drag it out a little.

Don't they also have grass seating at the Rose & Crown? For those guests dining inside w/out a window? I thought I remembered being asked once if we wished to go outside and view since we were inside, but we were too happy having a drinkie-poo and didn't bother to move ...

Just ate at the Rose & Crown Friday 2/26 and here is what I did. I made a dinner reservation at the Rose & Crown. I got seated inside and told my waitress that we wanted to watch Illuminations, she said no problem and said she would reserve some seats on their private outdoor patio. About 5 mins prior to the start of the show she escorted us out to the seats and we watched the show with a front row view seated and no one crowding around us just other folks who had dinner inside and their waitress brought them outside too.

I would keep that time. That's what we had and it was perfect. Didn't get an outside table but they brought us to an outdoor viewing area right before it started. Worked out very well.

Thanks to all of you for your ideas. I'm just beginning to think about our June trip (for my DD and her BFF's 21st b'day's). The travel party is myself, my DD, her BFF and her BFF's mom, so all adult girls ;)

It will be a short trip, 3 nights, 4 full days. I'm thinking maybe the first night there we'll go over to AKL and see the animals, have dinner in Jiko, but again, just starting the planning, and really it will be up to the girls as to what they want to do.

Thanks again,

Back in 2007 we had a party of 10 with a 7:15 reservation at Rose & Crown. We sat inside, but they were GREAT about letting us go out and watch Illuminations without having to give up our table indoors. There was plenty of room outside for all of us to sit (well, maybe the men stood, I don't remember). When the show was over we went back inside and ordered our desserts. It is really one of the nicest most laid back atmospheres in there, and the food is great too!
