Just wondering what your favorite MGM restaurant is? Going in December with a party of 8-including 4 kids ages 1, 3 and 2-5 year olds. Trying to stay away from character dining there.

There is only one character dining at the studios--Hollywood & Vine for breakfast and lunch--it is also our least favorite of all the restaurants. Brown Derby is a two table service credit per person if you are on the dining plan (we don't think it worth it). That leaves Mama Melrose, 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi Cafe. We've been to all three and enjoyed all three. We now basically only do Mama Melrose because we no longer have kids and did 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi so often with the boys that we got tired of it. If we don't do Mama Melrose, we go over to the Boardwalk to eat there. With the kids your ages, I would suggest Sci-Fi. You can eat in two cars with your group of 8.

We really like the Brown Derby, but, with kids, I too would suggest the Sci Fi Cafe. Dining in the cars there is fun, and, depending on the time of year, you may want to get reservations for the cars.

Been twice to Mama Melrose and it's been great each time. My boys (6,4,2) enjoy the spaghetti w/ meat sauce.

I'd go with SciFi. My boys are 6 and 4 and think it's really cool. Food is pretty good as well.

since there is a good mix of adults and kids in your party, I cannot recomment 50's Prime Time enough. obviously you'll find varied opinions on the boards, but our group of 15 really loved this place for it's fun atmosphere, playful servers and good food too!

If you are on the dining plan I might recommend to do the fantasmic dinner package at mama melrose. Its a great deal because on the basic ddp you don't get apppetizers, but here for the dinner package you do get an appy.
You usually have to eat pretty early but it also comes with tickets to that nights show of fantasmic.

But I also agree with others that 50's primetime is a fun time!

50's Prime Time Cafe get's my vote. My family and I have been there for lunch two different times and both times it was great.

We've been to all the sit-down restaurants in DHS except for Hollywood & Vine, and the one we have the most fun at is 50s Prime Time, while the one where we enjoy the food the most is Brown Derby.

50's prime time, especially with the ages of your group.

We like Brown Derby also, but that might be better for you when your kids are older.

We always dine at Mama Melrose's & 50's. I would recommend them both, and I agree that your group would be well-suited for 50's!:thumbsup2
