We'll be arriving at WDW on Christmas Day and we're looking for a place to eat a special Christmas dinner. We're arriving at noon, so we won't be using our park tickets for that day, so we're looking for something at one of the resorts or downtown Disney.

We are staying at POFQ, but we will have a rental car, so traveling won't be an issue.

Any suggestions?

I would personally give the WCC at the Wilderness Lodge or the GF Cafe a try...if you have princess lovers I would add 1900 Park Fare to that list. Those two hotels at Christmas are really just breathtaking and very festive.

We stayed at the GF this past Christmas. We are from New Orleans, house flooded, no floors or walls, so no tree...you get the picture. Ended up being a GREAT Christmas...nothing like being in the festive atmosphere of the GF to cheer you up.

We have eaten at all three of these restaurants, as well and they are all very good.

If you are looking for a more casual experience, try WCC...something a little more quiet (but not stuffy) try either at the GF.

Have a great holiday! I am soooo jealous!

we have ressies for dinner @ chef mickeys at the CR....should be a fun x-mas dinner!

We went to Mickey's Backyard Barbeque for their Christmas Dinner. It was fun, lots of music and characters. The food was served on a hot buffet, you just took a plate, filled it up, then grabbed a picnic table. There was lots of food, wine, beer, soda and plenty of desserts. The area is under a shelter.
This was at Fort Wilderness. They served traditional turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yams, salad, soup, etc. and plenty of desserts...

I also was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Christmas Day. We'll be living 25 minutes away at that point, and just in case none of my family can come for Christmas and we can't go home for work reasons, I'd like to have a dinner ressie somewhere at Disney. Just booked Artist Point today for Thanksgiivng dinner. :)

I have done Grand Floridian Cafe one time and another time Artiste Point.. both were great....

The Grand Floridian Cafe sounds good to me and we've never been there before.

We're doing 1900 Park Fare next month, so I don't really want to repeat that restaurant, but the thought of being at the GF on Christmas day sounds magical in and of itself :santa:

Do you remember if they did anything special because it was Christmas ... ie special decorations in the restaurant, special menu, etc?

We have reservations for the Crystal Palace for dinner on Christmas. We have never eaten there, and we are hoping that the meal will be magical.

I would go to the buffet at the Cape May at the Beach Club! Just a suggestion, but I'd make an ADR asap. :) The Beach Club is just beauiful at Christmas! I'm posting a pic of the chocolate carousel they have each year in the lobby.

Here's a link to Christmas meal info from Deb's site. Granted, it's 2005 details, but there probably won't be too many changes.

I second that. I went to Cape May for Thanksgiving last year and it was great. I can only imagine that Christmas would be even better. Plus, you can walk around the Boardwalk and check out all the hotels' decorations. Pretty cool. :smooth:

Thanks so much!!!

The link to Deb's website was wonderful and gave me a much better idea of what might be offered. Checking out the lobby of the Beach Club, eating at Cape May and walking around the Boardwalk sounds like a wonderfully magical way to spend Christmas night!!!

Since you can now make adr's 180 days out, when do you think they will publish the Christmas offerings for 2006?

We ate at WCC last Christmas Day and really did not like it:( It is a set menu and none of cared for any of it.

We at Christmas dinner 2004 at Palio's but I understand that it is being refurbished right now. This year we have ADRs for Artist Pointe. I'm excited to try this one! Anywhere you eat on Christmas in WDW will be wonderful and festive. Have a GREAT trip!

We went to trails end last year for Christmas dinner and believe it or not Loved it!! It is homey and friendlly not fancy and the turkey, giblet gravy, mashed potatos, dressing and pumpkin pie and ham are just like home. Also, we love sitting in the rocking chairs and digesting dinner with a beer or two. If you go to the parks, LTT,. Biergarten, R&C, and Garden Grill are favorites for traditional fare. We'll be at Garden Grill and R&C ourselves this year. :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all the suggestions! We actually have an ADR for Artiste Point for Thanksgiving dinner. I just sooo love Wilderness Lodge. Since I'll probably be a little homesick, since we're moving to Florida in six weeks, I thought I'd cheer myself up with a little Wilderness Lodge therapy!! :teeth:

Did Cape May Cafe have Christmas dinner type fare on it's buffet? I know the decorations are beautiful, have seen them before, but I can't quite picture their traditional buffet for Christmas dinner.

If you follow the link that I posted to Deb's site and read the menu there, you'll see that Cape May offered turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes and carved turkey in addition to their usual seafood offerings last Christmas. Perhaps less traditional holiday fare that still sounds delicious included carved roast beef, bbq ribs, a pasta selection and a wide array of salads. A large, unspecified dessert bar was also included, which I'm sure included pumpkin pie.
