Just wondering which resorts are the best to stay at during Christmas. I know that the #1 choice is Wilderness Lodge, but if you can't get that, which would you choose?

I think the BW lobby is beautiful. The ornament-laden garland is just lovely The made-from-chocolate scene changes each year and has so much detail.

I second the BW lobby, even though it's my least favorite resort. We always prefer OKW first.

My sig line has a photo tour of all the WDW DVC resorts at Christmas if you want to see them all.

We just did our first Christmas trip and checked out all the resorts, including staying at WL and Beach Club.

I enjoyed the decorations at the Boardwalk and Beach Club (probably a tie in my mind) more than the Wilderness Lodge, although they were all nice.

We couldn't get VWL for Xmas 2007, so we asked for AKV & it was available! We were there Dec. 20-26 & my family loved it. No negatives at all about AKV....only positives!:thumbsup2

We are doing BLT for Christmas. MK is our favorite park for the Holidays.

WL, BC, BW these have my vote. I have stayed at Akl during the Christmas season, but I still vote for the first 3.

We alternate our December visits between VWL and BWV. We think they are the best! This year it's VWL!

We were also there this past Dec. and checked out all of the resorts, except SSR. While they were all nicely decorated, BWV was def. my favorite. The decorations in the lobby were spectacular. I would say BCV and VWL come in second.

Since we just became AKL DVC owners, we did not previously book any holiday trips....Now we are trying to take advantage of our points and AP and have a trip booked from 11-25-09 through 12-2-09 and wondered when the Christmas decorations usually go up. I am hoping we will see them.

Decorations will be going up while you are there. I don't think any dates for MVMCP or Osborne lights have been announced yet. Good luck! Early December is my favorite time to be at WDW! :santa:

I read on another website that decorations are usually up by Thanksgiving weekend, the MVMCP tickets went on sale in May last year, and the Candlelight Processional dates for 2009 are Nov 27-Dec 30.

We'll be there for a few days after Thanksgiving as well, so I've been keeping my eyes open for information :santa:

Have a wonderful trip!

after Thanksgiving everything should be up.'

MK will be up before the first MVMCP - which starts the middle of Nov.

VWL/WL
AKV/AKL - it is lovely
BWV

don't know yet what BLT will look like - the last few years CR has been trying - so hoping for better at BLT.

Our vacation, staying at BCV last November, ended around the 20th, and the decorations were mostly up in all of the resorts. At GF the Gingerbread house was already up, but I think the tree was going up by the Friday of that week, but definitely before Thanksgiving.

Disney does well with all their resorts. I found I actually enjoyed coming back to SSR this past NYE more than being in MK. Reason: MK kept playing weird disco party music while SSR had relaxing traditional instrumentals playing throughout the Carriage House and environs.

The hotels with the biggest lobbies get the biggest trees. That includes VWL, GF and AKV. VWL and AKV look very similar to one another. The difference is in the ornaments... American mountain woodsy for VWL (pinecones, bears and wolves) while AKV has the African safari thing (lions, zebras, tribal masks).

BCV and BWV, along with GF, Contemp and Poly all do a Gingerbread/chocolate sculpture from the local bakery. I do love the red, white & blue decorations in BWV. Very unique and a nice break from traditional red & green. BCV uses the same color scheme but swaps Americana ornaments for Seaside ornaments.

Oh OKW is quite unique too. They do a Caribbean style motif with lots of bright pastels. If you're looking for a tropical Christmas this is the place.

I must admit, having seen VWL in December I wasn't really that blown away. I much prefer the lodge in Springtime. The flowers and surrounding nature setting just seems better then.

We've heard they are all very beautiful.. in fact all of Disney is amazing! We're booked at our home resort this Christmas, but we will try to switch to BLT at the 7th month window (crossing our fingers). It's not a big deal if we can't get it.. we're just so excited that we'll be there this year!!!!
