Best resort with 2 children and an infant

Hi everyone! I'm toying with the idea of taking a short trip this summer before our AP's run out. I have a DS4, a DD9 and I will have another DS who will be 2 months. Looking at my baby's age I think I'm nuts to even entertain the idea but one can daydream. Anyway, can anyone reccomend a resort that would be best with an infant? I was thinking the Poly but I don't know if we could afford it this year.

If you can swing the Poly, I would recommend that one. We were there in September with our DD3 and another DD who was 5 months at the time. It was so nice having the monorail right there - it made it so easy. Especially for us since we spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom.

I'm sure you'll get other recommendations so good luck with your decision!

My first trip with three was in 2002. My little ones were 4, 2, and 10 months. Our past two trips were smooth and easy. The first trip with 3 was some "work." In other words, we definitely felt the difference. That said, it was still fun, and I would have done it all over again. (We just got back from a 2 week trip in 12.2004 -- ages 6, 4, and 2 3/4)! Maybe with your oldest being 9, that will help bit. The most trouble with an infant that we found was getting on and of the bus with a stroller. One of us had ALL 3 kids and one of us had the stroller. We stayed at the All Stars and POFQ, but we said at the time, that if we realized the work it was getting on and off the bus, we would have stayed at a monorail resort, where you can at least roll the stroller right on and off -- we thought that would have made a big difference!
The Poly sounds like it would be great for you. Hope it works out. And I'm sure you'll have a good time -- it just might be more work than traveling in the past.

Yeah, me too! We stayed there in 2004 and our daugher was 6 at the time. It is so convenient with the monorail on site! Plus, it is just a really great resort with the Volcano Pool,the beach (watching Wishes and the EWP)!! That would be my first choice!!

Have you considered a home away from home resort? The added convenience of having a washer/dryer and a kitchen is wonderful when you have little ones. Also the extra room! When you can rent points from a DVC owner, most of the time makes it more affordable. Being at BWV or BCV you could walk or take the boat (and not have to take down your strollers) to both Epcot and MGM. Even if you could not do a 1 bedroom but a studio you would still have the microwave and little kitchen area. Hope you get to go, we enjoyed it very much when our 3 yr old was still a baby. The result of that is that now she thinks WDW is her home away from home!

You could also do WL or the cabins at FW, with both of those you could wheel the stroller right onto the boat that takes you to MK and they're both a lot more resonably priced than the Poly.

I initially thought the Polynesian, but then thought a moment more and decided with children those ages, especially the infant, I'd choose the BWV.

Reasons? Lots!

The washer and dryer right in your room is a HUGE plus! Having a seperate living room where the kids can sleep, and bedroom will be great for a number of reasons... when you need to nurse or feed the baby at night, you won't wake everyone up, when you put the kids down to bed for the night you and your husband can watch tv in your room, or better yet you can take a long relaxing soak in the jacuzzi tub.

Oh, did I mention the kitchen? The kids wake up in the morning hungry, and you and your husband can tag team getting yourselves ready and feeding the kids right there on the spot. In the evening you and your husband can enjoy a bottle of wine--the kitchens come equipped with a corkscrew and wine glasses. The full size fridge is great for snacks, holding formula or breastmilk if you need to pump, and there's also a microwave. Plus there's plenty of freezer space to hold ice cream!

The kids are done eating but you're not ready to go? No problem! Slip a DVD into the DVD player and let them watch a Disney movie!

If the weather is bad you'll have plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of each other. If someone is sick, same thing.

And Community hall is a great place for the older two to spend some time while the baby naps.

The pool at the BWV is perfect for that age group, IMHO SAB is too large to keep track of kids in. And an added bonus, the kids are allowed to wear a life jacket and go down the slide at the BW pool!

OK, I think I've made my point

We stayed there last year with my sister, BIL and there three kids 7, 4, and 14 months. It was absolutely a perfect location. And BTW, not all kids are enamoured with the MK. My neices and nephews all prefer other parks, it's a toss-up between Epcot and the AK, depending on which child you ask and which way the wind blows

We are going the last week of September, DH, DS (will be 8), DD5, a 3 month old and of course me. We will be staying in a 1 BR @ BWV. I am a little worried, DH won't be able to help much, I'm planning on BF'ing so the baby will be pretty much with me the entire time. I'm planning on getting a Baby Bjorn and taking a stroller. The thing I'm worried most about is the sun. I have found some sun protection suits that are suppose to be lightweight & block the sun, I don't know if they work or not though. There is one in A Step Ahead catalog for ~$40. I'll get one to try. I have heard that sunscreen should not be put on a baby under 6 monthes.

Anyway, we are staying at BWV. We are DVC members & have never stayed there. I think having a full kitchen and a washer & dryer will come in very handy with a baby. We will be able to pack a little lighter since we'll have the W & D. We'll put DS & DD on the sofa and DH, baby & me in the bedroom with a pack & play.

My DD went 3 times before she was 14 mos old (plus two older DS). We stayed at CBR, POR and WL. POR and WL were great resorts to be with a little one with WL being the best option. The size of the resort was perfect, never felt overwhelmed with people are the size to get anywhere. Pool was perfect size and loved the boat to MK !

Another vote for a 1br condo at a home-away-from-home. BCV is within walking distance of Epcot (and MGM?).

We orginally had a 10 day summer trip planned had the 2 bedroom at BWV's booked then I got my surprise. Pregnant! After much discussion, the baby would only be 6 wks old during the trip in June we decided to wait and added nights to our VB portion of the trip. With that being said, we own at the BWV's and I love it but if I had kids the same ages as yours and assuming most of your time will be spent in the MK -I would go with the Poly. If you plan on dividing your time in the aprks more evenly then I would most definitely go with a 1-2 bedroom at the BWV or WLV's.

If you really would like to stay on the monorail with kids your ages, you could also look at the CR since that is the least expensive option of the 3. That's where dh, me and our 2 kids (now 6 & 1) like to stay. It's very convienent since it's only a walk away to MK, the first stop back from MK and the first stop to get to TTC.

Just some thoughts for you to consider!

I'd choose any resort that offers transportation other than only buses. I only say that because I've experienced staying at a "bus only" resort with 2 babies and a double stroller. It's not that it was "too hard" of work, but it was tiring having to get the babies out of the stroller, get all the bags out of the stroller, fold it up, etc., every time we got on a bus. If in your shoes, I'd decide which park you will be frequenting the most often and then choose a resort accordingly. Good luck.
