Best resort when you're not going to the parks

Definitely Animal Kingdom Lodge: Arusha View!

It's the main, biggest and most requested savannah, and the only one with zebras! Great selection of animals here, we loved our Arusha view on our honeymoon.

Never stayed at the Boardwalk but I would choose that if not doing parks. I LOVE AKL, but I think the walking around and seeing the activities on the Boardwalk would be enough for me.

I would choose one of the Epcot resorts...

Being able to take the boat or walk around and explore the Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club is fun...

Also lots of dining choices.

Nice question by the way! My top picks:

1.) Disney's Polynesian Resort
2.) Disney's Grand Floridian Resort

My reasons:
Disney's Poly is awesome! It had a great atmosphere, really makes you feel in Polynesia. If you want a great pool the nice volcano pool is childlike and fun. The food is top notch.

The GF has a great layout I never got lost! It had a great fast food place unlike the Poly it just has order instead of that weird touch pad thingy. Also a great pool.

There is so much to do at AKL I could stay there a week and never leave .

I have stayed at BWI and while it is beautiful it can get very noisy at night with all the action so if you are looking for some peace and quiet in your room then AKL is much more relaxing for grownups!

AKL has wonderful presentations at night from the CM's (I forget what they are called).THere is a huge wine selection from South Africa, so having a glass of wine while they are talking, or sitting by one of the many fireplaces inside and outside of the lodge is very romantic

I'm going to add to the love of AKL Amazing restaurants, great wine, and beautiful grounds.

However, I also second the SSR or OKW idea. Bother are beautiful, and both are a lovely boat ride away from DTD. For what you want, they are in a perfect location, especially since you can get over to DTD and then just take one of the Boardwalk buses to a Boardwalk resort if you choose to go there.

Best resort imho for relaxing is AKL- Jambo house.

The pool is gorgeous and there is actually shade, bring a good book and relax by the pool in a lounge chair under a palm tree with a glass of wine. Life doesn't get much better than that

Thanks, everyone! We decided to book the AKL - Jambo house with the Arusha View. So excited! I know we'll have to take the bus to DTD and BW but I think the animals will be worth it!
