hi all, this being my first post, I hope it makes sense.

We are planning a trip to WDW, its my and wife a 7yr old son and a very new(currently 7 weeks old) baby girl. In the past weve stayed either off site or at moderate resorts to save on money. This trip we are looking at the monorail line resorts or something like the beach club, yacht club etc.

We are planning to do 7 nights, however my wife plans to spend the majority of the time at the resorts with the baby. So, our question is which resorts would be good choices, that would give her plenty to see and enjoy while relaxing and spending time with baby.

Im sure there will be a couple days that she will join us at a park, amd many times where all of us will hang out pool side. There seems to be commonality amoung the resorts and then variedoptions around pools, food etc.

Any advice or opionions are greatly appreciated?

Thanks,

L

Either Poly or GF would be good choices. It depends on what time of year your trip is. Poly is still having construction with their quiet pool. But main pool is very nice. Poly as the best transportation with being able to walk to TTC.

GF is another great choice. 2 pools, both have zero entry. Lots of shops, lobby has grand piano, and a quartet who plays. Nice to sit in the lobby and listen to the piano player.

You can see MK from both resorts, and watch Wishes & Electric Water Parade from many places. Both have beaches.

Hop on monorail to visit the other monorail resorts.

The monorail is a very convenient travel option with a stroller since you don't have to fold it - if she will be traveling to the parks to join you on her own I would go with the Poly. Otherwise, I would choose the BC because it has the best pool out of all the resorts and it sounds like you will be spending a lot of time poolside.

Depending on your interests, I wouldn't count out the Contemporary Resort. It's walking distance to MK, and on the monorail. The pools aren't heavily themed, but there is good food on site and it is a very convenient resort.

I think the convenience of the monorail is often overstated, though. It is prone to stops, delays, breakage and maintenance. It's 40 years old, and most 40 year olds show their age now and again.

Congratulations on your new addition to your family!
I would pick Beach Club for a resort to hang around with a baby.
You can easily walk around the paths surrounding Crescent Lake with a stroller. There are very pleasant shady spots to sit in near the pool. The Solarium is a quiet spot to sit with the baby that is not in your room. There is shopping at the Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk.

I would go with any of the Epcot resorts since not only would she have the resort ya'll are staying at, she would have a quick walk to the Boardwalk. I wouldn't rule out Swan/Dolphin either since they have almost all the Disney perks at a less price. I've never stayed at S/D but have stayed at all the monorail and all the Epcot resorts and love YC.

I'd stay at either beach club or yacht club. Simply because of the close proximity to both Epcot & HS, but also the boardwalk. So much to see and do!

I'm guessing I'm in the minority here, but I'd not go w/ BC/YC . Not because I don't like it or anything. This is strictly because you have a 7 yr. old & a newborn... The close proximity is awesome, don't get me wrong, but seeing how most of your time will be poolside, this is the biggest reason why I wouldn't choose it. SAB is big and grandiose for sure , but it's a little to hard to keep an eye on lil ones. There are soo many different sedctions of this, pool, that it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to sit in your lounge chair & keep an eye out for them...Also The infamous lazy river which unlike most, is 8ft, not the typical 3 ft... Very dangerous ( in my eyes ) even for the best swimmers. It also has a very swift current as well. Swifter than most....

I also don't like how you have to leave/ exit the gated area, and go across the MAIN path to get to the entrance to the big slide ( which is Awesome BTW ) only to come back into the pool area.

When we were, there I found myself constantly trying to keep my eyes on my Twins. They're both very good swimmers, btw but I was still a nervous wreck there. I do love both EPCOT resorts and would definitely recommend them in a heart beat, but with older children in mind...

If you can afford the Monorail resorts I'd go with that. Especially GF. but on a tighter budget, I'd opt for AKL/V.... This place truly is a staycation within a vacation.... There's soo much to do & see here. I the kids water play area, and zero entry pools, with great site lines from most seats makes it ideal....

Obviously this is just my $.02 .. Good luck with your choice.

If it's in your budget, I'd choose Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. The pools at the GF are ideal for hanging out with a baby- lots of tables and chairs plus two poolside restaurants and the food is good. The lobby is beautiful for people watching and listening to the orchestra play in the evenings. Lots of shopping, lots of outdoor areas in which to sit, multiple restaurants, and a beautiful relaxing environment. When we went last December we used our balcony over looking the lake and monorail frequently bc it was so cool.

Poly is similar- just a very different theme. GF would be my first choice.

You could check out the POFQ or POR - with boat service to Disney Spring ( DTD) is a nice feature, and walking between both resorts is easy, shaded in most parts, and you can use both pools, as well as food courts. I really like both pools at these resorts especially with younger kiddos.

Have you thought about AOA in a family suite, it might be nice to have more room for all the "stuff". Having a sorta kitchenette space might be helpful with baby items, and if she is up and down with the baby during the night you and the older child could stay in one room and shut the door if need. The pools here are quite nice and themed really well.

What about Saratoga Springs, you might again want to look into a one bedroom, for more room for your family. Which she would appreciate if staying at the resort most of the trip. It's walking distance to Disney Springs.

Congrats on the newest member of your family. Have a magical time.

We love Wilderness Lodge. The hubby and kids will both love it. It just has a great feel about it.

If I was going to hang around a pool with a baby for about a week, I'd choose Wilderness Lodge (with Animal Kingdom Lodge as a close second). WL is beautiful and fairly peaceful and has boat access to MK should the need arise. There is also a lovely path thru the woods that would be easy and shady with a stroller. WL really makes me feel like I'm away from home. Animal Kingdom Lodge also has a great pool area. There are many planned activities throughout the day that might be entertaining if the baby is asleep. The animals are a big bonus! There isn't a real walking path, but the resort is huge enough that a decent walk with a stroller is certainly possible.

WL is under construction, though. I'd have real concerns about that with an infant and being around all day.
I love WL, but... hard to say how this kid will be scheduled for sleeping in 5 months, let alone where the path of destruction will be at WL.

I'm with the folks who say BC or YC.............many more options from that location (walking distance from Epcot and the Boardwalk, tons of dining options) if you're looking at staying at the resort. Also has the best pool complex at WDW IMHO :)

Congrats and Welcome to the DIS!!!!

I was in your position a few years ago. We had a 5 year old, an 19 month old and a 9 month old. I knew I would be hanging out with the two babies, and we wanted to be close to magic kingdom because we spend the majority of our park days in either MK or HS. We went with BLT. We got a 1 bedroom lake view. We loved the proximity to the park and we would throw the babies into the stroller and walk to MK for the extra magic hour s in the evening, which was nice to do. We loved that there was great food in the contemporary and that we had the option of the monorail. However, BLT just didn't have the resort feel we were looking for. If I were you, I would go with either GF or POLY. POLY has an amazing property and we loved it. The little kids loved the new children's play area, and I was able to sit on the beach lounges, and I was close enough to keep a very good eye on my two little ones. My DH was able to go with our 9 yr old. to the main pool. The food was great at both the restaurants (Kona and O'Hana) and the quick service. We really enjoyed the movies on the beach, and being able to get a dole whip right at the resort. The sheer beauty of the resort made it an amazing experience to take a walk in the evening and watching the fireworks from both the beach and our deck and plunge pool. There is children activity center lilo's play house which my 2 older children got to enjoy while my husband and I enjoyed some time with the babies. They kept our older children engaged and it was IMO affordable. There is also a marina that you could rent watercraft and take your family out on a boat. We walked several times to the TTC to hop the monorail to EPCOT. The have a lady who is in the lobby that makes leis and teaching guest to luau. We love the beach club as well, but to be honest as great as Stormalong bay is it is very difficult to keep an eye on your children especially when they want to be all over the place. and one thing I hate about YC/BC is the lack of quick service meals, because sometimes you just want a quick bite to eat. My vote is for POLY

You stayed in a bungalow? Jealous! They are pretty much impossible to book! How'd you pull it off?

When they first opened in May 2015, we were very lucky to snag one up for 2 nights. We were booked at BC but once I s aw the opening for the bungalows I jumped on it. They were amazing.
