DH & I have a free day while at WDW and thought we'd like to rent a boat for a while (we did this at PO once and enjoyed it a lot). I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is on where the best place to rent/tour from is, where the best sights can be had, etc. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

We always rent from the Contemporary. ::MickeyMo

Contempory or any of the MK resorts - much bigger area to explore. However, from DTD is fun - if you rent something slightly bigger than the watermice - you can go up the cannal to POR which is really pretty.

We have rented the watermice from Ft. Wilderness campground. Like someone already said, you have a big lake with lots to see. It's fun boating by the Magic Kingdom and all the MK resorts. And you can also see the now closed Discovery Island and River Country.

I think any MK area resort is fine. We've rented from the CR & WL. There are always plenty of boats. You can go from 1 lake to the other.

Great...thanks for the input. Sounds like one of the MK resorts is definitely the way to go!

We are staying at POR in November. We'd also like to rent the water mice. I've read that the best place to rent them is from the Magic Kingdom resorts. However, I have two teenagers going along (13 & 14 years old). I read somewhere that they are no longer allowed to drive the water mice at the Magic Kingdom resorts, but are allowed at the POR. I'd rather rent them at the MK resorts, but I know the kids won't enjoy being passengers. Does anyone know anything about this?

Well, I'm rather partial to the GF marina. That's where the Grand One is docked :)

The 2005 Birnbaum Official guide still says 12 and older to rent the water mice but I really thought I read on these boards that they switched it to 16 with a DL?

Anyone go recently that knows for sure? I was really bummed that my daughter couldn't rent one at 13 but now there may be a ray of hope????:hyper:

Please, please let me know!:boat:

Yes, WDW recently changed their policy on renting the water mice. You must now be sixteen to drive!

The water mice now have larger engines, and as a safety precaution, only guests sixteen years and older may drive. :D
