DH and I are looking forward to our next trip in January. I'm trying to branch out a little on restaurant choices, and would love to visit some of the resorts we've never stayed in. DH, myself and younger DD are pretty adventurous eaters, but older DD and young DS would probably be satisfied with standard children's menu fare. What are your favorite, family friendly resort restaurants?

Ohana for dinner hands down our fav resort restaurant. Whispering Canyon Cafe is good and it is family fun, especially at dinner.

Here are a few of my favorites:

California Grill at the Contemporary
Kona Cafe at the Polynesian
Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian
Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club

Our favorites are:

Ohana at the Poly
Sanaa at AK
Yachtsman's Steak House at YC

You don't say whether you are on the DDP or not, so I don't know if 2TS credits is a deal breaker for you.

Our favorite 1TS resort restaurants are:

The Wave at the Contemporary
Kona at the Poly
Grand Floridian Cafe at the GF

Fav 2TS resort restaurants:

Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC
Narcoossee's at the GF

Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club and 'Ohana at the Poly have nice character breakfasts too (1TS).

:)

Our Faves are at the resorts

Ohanas'
Kona
California Grill
Chef Mickeys
Narcooses
Jiko
Sanaa

- Not necessarily in that order.

'Ohana is my fave resort restaurant,

BUT..... a little out of the way gem called Olivia's is my next in line.

I love love love it, and just a hop on the boat takes us to DTD Goofy's for dessert!

Jenny I just noticed your ticker! We are both from NC and will be there at the same time!

Wanna share a taxi? :lmao:

For Breakfast, it would be Boma unless you want characters in which case it would be Chef Mickey. Boma has much better food.

For Dinner, I would choose Kona first and Whispering Canyon second.

My fav's (1 TS) are GF Cafe (had AWESOME service) O'Hana's and Boma (I have paid OOP there.)

We will have DS (8), DS (7), and DD (5). One is NOT adventurous, and the other two are more ready to try new things, but like familiar favorites, as well.

The resort restaurants we are trying are...
-Sannaa at AKL (heard the view is GREAT, as well as the food!)
-1900 Park Fare (dinner - for DD. Boys will tolerate!)
-Ohanas breakfast (our only breakfast - not adventurous in food, though)
-Whispering Canyon Cafe (we're staying at WL)

I'd add others (Grand Floridian Cafe, Kona, Trail's End)....but there are only so many days.....

My parents are going to California Grill for a "date night/anniversary celebration" during the trip.

I don't feel as if my children would appreciate that level of dining at their ages....they sit fine in a restaurant, but on vacation, with all the other "fun" things to do, I don't think dining for 2 hours in a restaurant would be their choice (unless there was entertainment).

However, we will be slipping into the last weekend of F&W at Epcot, so the kids can have some ethnic "tastes" there!

Happy planning!

I would consider Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL, There is also a great Signature resterant (2 tbl services from DP) Artist Points. Kona Cafe is good,Boma's for breakfast is more normal then dinner.. It has alot of the same things that you might find on other buffets about WDW but there are some more adventurious options as well.

We really enjoy Narcoossee's. It is a great meal/view and my kids enjoy the children's menu because you can get standard fare - mac 'n cheese & chicken nuggets but also there is a filet mignon and baked fish which can be nice after days of mac 'n cheese.

We also really enjoy Cali Grill with timing our reservsation around Wishes. I love their Grilled Pork Tenderloin. My girls love their Housemade Macaroni & Cheese and the rice crispie sushi desert is a lot of fun!

An added convenience of these two is that they are on the monorail so if you are relying on disney transportation, you just need to get to MK and hop on the monorail.

I would consider Flying Fish (Boardwalk), too. My kids love it, and the food has choices for both adventurous eaters and those who prefer standard fare.

One huge point in its favor when with kids-- it is on the loud side, so the occasional dropped fork or inadvertent slip from one's "inside voice" will not be noticed by anyone else!

Narcoosee's is wonderful and the kids can watch the MK fireworks from the patio outside and they pipe in the music like they do at Cali Grill. That is our fave.

Kona Cafe fro breakfast we love too. TONGA TOAST!!!

If you like characters, Chef Mickey's at Contemporary or 1900 Park Fare at GF are nice.

Boma is wonderful too. I feel like you really cannot go wrong dining at a resort.

I am a food lover. I love to taste different recipes at my WDW trips. Last February I went to Whispering Canyon Café and I loved the meat that they served for dinner. Read this review at disneyeveryday.com/ "whispering canyon cafe at the disney wilderness lodge" and enjoy your food at ‘Whispering Canyon Café’.
