Best resort for taking it easy?

We are returning to WDW for the first time next March as AP holders. Dh, the kids and I are going on 3/7 and the rest of the group (DH's family) isn't coming until late on 3/9. We are planning to stay at BWV, but DH asked if I wanted to stay at BCV for the first 2 nights. I'm really wanting to take it easy and live like...well...AP/DVC people this trip. Maybe try some of the resort activities and just hop in and out of parks to grab a meal or get in some quick rides that the boys will want to do. (They will be 3 & 5.) Do you think BCV or BWV will be better for a laid back start to our vacation? Is there another resort you'd recommend? Or, should I go with my first instinct and say it's not worth moving after 2 nights?

For "laid back"....I instantly think of OKW (and VB). Between your 2, I'd say BCV

Will OKW have enough activities for the kids?

And is it really worth the move anyways?

I was thinking BWV/BCV because we could pop into the world showcase to get something to eat. Love trying the food from different countries.

I vote BCV. We did a split stay last time with BWV and BCV only because BCV didn't have our first two nights available, but both were nice for relaxing, lots to do. only went to park 3 times.

I would definitely stay for a few nights at BCV. Your kids will get to take advantage of SAB! That alone is worth it for the kids. We find BCV very relaxing. Enjoy a movie on the beach one evening. Also, a quick walk into WS for dinner allows you to get something for everyone! Pick up a crepe in France for me! :lmao:

The BWV is closer to the nightly activities on the boardwalk, and BCV is nearer to the night movies on the beach. However, I think the Community room at BWV makes it a better choice for laid back and enjoying the resort.

I honestly think that any DVC resort can be a great place for a laid back vacation. And they all have children's activities.

My suggestion would be to stay at BWV. If you want laid back, the last thing you want to do is a split stay. Especially with your children's ages, when you probably won't have access to any villa for an afternoon nap on the day you switch.

Settle in at BWV, enjoy the Community Hall and the Boardwalk entertainment, and hang at the quiet pool if you want a little less hectic pool experience.

I'll throw my hat in for BCV...if nothing else but for the ease of jumping over to the world showcase, or walking over to the boardwalk at night.

For a different twist 2 days at BCV would be great and I have always found that moving resorts goes pretty good. I like have multiple resorts and without going commando at the parks I think it will work out well.

we find the BCVs one of the least relaxing resorts mostly because of the popularity of the character meals (the entrance is in the BC lobby, so it can get very loud), storm-along-bay (crowded, noisy).

we tend to mostly relax at the BWVs.......stroll the BW, shop, leisurely walks to EPCOT just for a grey goose slushie or DHS for a TSM fastpass, play with the ducks, ride a friendship, play mini-golf, people watch on the BW or balcony off the lobby, street performers and carny games at night, read in the alcove beneath the lobby (love that little nook!), play ping-pong in community hall, catch a movie at luna park pool, relax at the BWV quiet pool or the gorgeous Inn side pool, the list goes on and on........:cloud9:

we go rather 2-3x a year for 10-14 days to the BWVs, and still find so many relaxing things to do :)

Yep BCV, lay on the beach, drop into B&C late afternoon for minimal wait, walk over to EPCOT in 5 min for an adr at France or wherever, 5 min back from Illuminations, return to Soaring for a FP you got earlier, stroll the BW, find a quiet waterfall area in SAB.

For "laid back"....I instantly think of OKW
Me too. Lots of opportunities to explore and nature-watch. The boat to DTD would be a fine way to procure dinner.

I don't think of the EP area resorts as laid back at all; they are both "in the mix" of the theme parks, and feel a little more energetic to me. But, if that's what you want, I would stay at BWV just to avoid having to move.

With 2 small kids it would take a lot to make it worthwhile for me to move for just 2 nights. SAB is a great pool but really I think they would be satisfied with the BW pool. Kids we bring love the BW Community Hall also. You can make a quick trip to either DHS or Epcot for a couple of rides or meals if you wish. Moving does not equal relaxation, in my book. Unpack once and hangout at BWV. If you want to try BCV then I would book the whole trip there so you would not have to move.

how about a big change and go with BLT.

you can monrail to the other resorts and walk to the MK.

of course also love BCV - but tend to walk more there - guess the monrail can spoil one.

This thread pretty well covers my internal debate!

We are planning to stay at BLT when we go in June 2012, so it's out for the March trip. I'm leaning more and more towards BWV so (1) we don't have to move and (2) I've heard really good things about their community hall which I think my kids might like.

It bums me out that I still haven't stayed at BCV which is where we OWN, but the rest of the group has stayed there. This is the same group that went the year my youngest DS got sick and he and I stayed home. So, I'm trying to give them the opportunity to try something new. I mean, I do have until 2042 to get to stay there!

And...finally...WHAT is a gray goose slush??? You've got me on that one!

OKW or SSR for me. They're both more removed from the hustle & bustle of WDW but you're never too far if you want it. Wherever you decide you can't lose, though. Enjoy! :goodvibes

GG is vodka and they sell slushies near France in Epcot. I prefer the Grand Marnier slushies - yummy!

oh - I wouldn't move from BWV - moving just messes up my day!
