Looks like I might be doing a solo trip and I'd like to know which resort you feel is the best for a non park solo trip for a mother of two young kiddos that is just itching for some alone time. Of course I'll be making my final decision once I find out tomorrow through MS whats available but from the new availability board it looks like all might be open. I've stayed at BW, OKW, and SSR. I'd love to try AKL, VWL, and BC so which of those would be the best for some nice relaxing non kiddo time? Thanks!

LOL, my first solo trip was a "Mom's weekend", given by DH and my 2 DSs, who knew I needed a little alone time. Since then, I've stayed solo in many DVC resorts, and I especially like the ones with 1 bed and couch, so I can sit and put my feet up while I drink my coffee/tea and watch TV. That's all of them except OKW. I also like to be within walking distance of Epcot, since that's one of my favorite parks, so BWV or BCV would be my choice. Of those two, BCV is my favorite, but that's just personal choice, primarily due to the theming. Recently I stayed at AKV for a week, and although I loved the resort, the animals, the food offerings, I didn't like the fact that I had to take a bus everywhere. SSR was just too big for me, and VWL is by MK, and I spend more time at Epcot when I'm solo (plus again, there's that walking distance factor). I hope you have a great time!

I did a solo trip last week and stayed at the BCV, which was lovely. I think I'd also love BWV or AKL. It's great to be able to stroll into Epcot from BCV and BWC, and SAB is a great way to relax. And then at AKV you can relax on your porch and watch the animals.

I've stayed solo at SSR and AKV. If you're looking for quiet, I'd recommend SSR. But if you like having people around, then AKV. I found that place a bit raucous, but enjoyable because everything is right there, more like a hotel would be.

SSR has long sprawling pathways to walk, a very serene atmosphere, a short walk to DTD and a SPA!!

BCV and BoardWalk are just a stroll away from EPCOT and DHS (a little longer stroll). Also SAB at BCV, if you like the pool. Plus, it is sort of two for one. Both resorts are very close and you can enjoy both amentities (except for SAB).

AKV is nice if you enjoy the animals, but seems very removed from everywhere else.

We have not stayed at the other resorts yet.

Especially because you say non park trip, I would pick VWL. It's atmosphere is very relaxing and soothing. The land to bike ride around is level, so if you want to rent a bike and ride around the area, to the campgrounds, you can do it very easily. At BCV, if you rent a bike you're going around the lake, people and hills make that not a relaxing proposition to me. Fun, exciting?, perhaps!

My only solo time at WDW so far has been at BCV, but that was for the F&G show. If I just wanted to relax and enjoy the resort, my first choice would be VWL, my second would be AKV. I chose to stay alone at WVL next week for a night between DH's leaving and DGF's arrival. I had given some thoughts to staying at AKV where my DGF and I will be staying, but no, as much as I like seeing the animals and love the flavor of that lodge, VWL is my preference.

I don't disagree with any of the above and it is such a personal decision as to what you like. I'm assuming no car so if I'm wrong, please adjust my thoughts accordingly. And realize that your restaurant preferences would probably be the largest factor and the LOS would be the second, IMO. Overall I'd suggest AKV due to the animals (assuming they're there when you go) and all the ambience and quiet places to park yourself. Were it open, I'd likely suggest the BLT second due to the newness and monorail location. After that I think it really depends on what you like, esp restaurants. VWL (if you do include the Lodge itself) does have a few more quiet places than most. SSR is close to DD of course. While I personally prefer OKW, I think it's the least choice in your situation, esp without a car. A car might play into your choice for AKV as well simply because the Bus system does not do well resort to resort. If it were a longer trip, I'd likely split it up for 2 locations.

My FAVORITE solo resort is AK. But ONLY with a savannah view. It's very relaxing to sit and watch the animals.

If I am going for Food & Wine in the fall it's BCV or BWV

SSR is one of my favorites solo too. I like the quite and the location is close to DTD for shopping!

I am not a big fan of VWL just because I find the transportation frustrating there.

If BLT ever opens I can't IMAGINE I would take a solo trip there unless everything else is booked. I spend the LEAST amount of time at MK while I am there solo!

Even though my home is VWL, my solo trips have been to BCV. These trips were in July and Septemer, and I had a great time. My next solo trip (not sure when) could possible a no-park/one-park trip, and I want to stay at VWL. I love settling down with a good book in the Iron Spike Room (can't remember the new name)!

I took my first solo trip last Jan and stayed at the AKV and it was wonderful. It was one of the best trips I ever took. I was able to see and do things that no one else ever wanted to do with me. I am going again this coming Jan and will stay at the BWV can't wait. :thumbsup2

We have not had the pleasure of doing solo or couple's only trips yet, but we would like to try BWV first, and BCV second. We would have annual passes and a quick trip around the world at Epcot make these resorts desirable for us. There is also a little more activity and more choices of restaurants.
