Best resort for 6 adults

Planning a trip with my husband and I, our newly married daughter and her husband, plus our 23 and 19 year olds. (Never too old for Disney) We want to stay on site. Getting two rooms may be cheaper than a suite, and offer better beds for all, but it looks like 4 people would be sharing a room like in a typical hotel room. Art of Animation may fit better, because it appears to have 3 somewhat separate sleeping areas. The only other option for more privacy seems to be a two bedroom villa that sleeps more than 6, with everyone in their own space at a premium price. Any other suggestions?

Hmmm - there used to be a thread that listed all of the resorts that would sleep 5+ people but I don't see it now.

What I would do is a Suite at either Art of Animation or All Star Music for you, your husband the 23 and 19 year olds.

Then I'd get a room for the newlyweds. I know if I was a newlywed, I'd be wanting my own space.

There is also the Ft. Wilderness Cabins but I think those are 2 double beds - 1 in bedroom with 2 bunk beds and the other a pull down murphy type double bed - so I don't know if that would work for you because of no privacy. And I think there is only one bathroom in the Cabins too.

The 4 of us stayed in an ASMu suite in June 2013 and while it was ok, I would have liked to have 4 actual beds instead of the pull out furniture for the teens.
The pull out couch was awful - so bad that we didn't use it, my DD chose to sleep on the actual couch not folded out after the first night.

Maybe check out this resort that isn't too far off property. I stayed there with my husband (his brother and kids backed out) in May of 2009 and it was really nice.

Diamond Resorts Grand Beach. There were 2 "master suites" and another bedroom with two twin beds. Very spacious and clean. And we totally skipped any timeshare spiel--they weren't too pushy.

Edit: we had the 3 bedroom/3 bath condo. It was a timeshare trade that my uncle gave to us--so for us it was free, not sure how pricey it would be. But it was very clean and nice.

I'd avoid having anyone at those ages sleep in a pull out. I'd also really try to get their own separate sleeping space for the newlyweds. I hated sharing spaces or being told we were in 2 twins when we first got married. It's weird, no one seems to expect to put you up that way once you've been married a while, but when you're newly wed, it happens to people.

Maybe compare prices with a villa and just going with 3 rooms at a value or Moderate.

If cost is a big consideration, another option would be to rent a vacation house nearby instead of staying on-site. I haven't done that, but I've heard you can get a really good deal on them. You might have 4 or 5 bedrooms to spread out in and your own pool.

Depends on your family. We just got back from the Beach Club. Oldest D and her boyfriend had a separate room, other kids (21 and 18) stayed with us. Not the ideal situation, but we love the location so we put up with it. I agree with others that off site or 3 rooms at a moderate or value may work better. I looked into the Disney villas and just couldn't bring myself to pay that much.

disney villa - DVC aren't so costly if you rent thru a member - either directly or thru a broker.

would go with a 2-bedroom at either BLT or AKV (Kidani) then you get 3 bathrooms. these sleep 9.

My husband and I are newly married and are going with his parents and his sister this December. We went back and forth on doing a suite vs. two rooms but it ended up being much less expensive to do two rooms. I would suspect your daughter and her new husband will appreciate the privacy as well. Then you can request adjoining rooms which they cannot guarantee but is usually not a problem.

I have looked at villas for a party of 6 and they tend to be geared towards families with small children rather than 6 adults. IMO that leaves some people with less than desirable beds to sleep upon. 2 rooms provides at least 4 real beds at WDW, 3 rooms give you 5 - 6 beds (5 with a king room). Moderates give 2 queens per room compared to 2 full beds in value resorts. Some deluxe resort rooms have large comfortable dabeds that a smaller adult can be comfortable enough sleeping on.

My first choice for a luxury:
I would consider 2 rooms at the Contemporary in the garden wing. The newlyweds could have their own room and you could share a room with the older kids. The Contemporary rooms are larger than most and the GW rooms are a great value. You would have 2 queen beds and a daybed, so you and hubby could share a bed and each of the 23 and 19 year olds would have a bed or daybed each.
The location next to the MK is great!

Another couple of alternatives are the Animal kingdom Lodge or Wilderness lodge. Again get 2 rooms. If the 19 and 23 year old are ok in one queen bed than get 2 rooms with 2 queens or a king for the newleyweds and 2 queens for you. Another option is a room with a queen bed for you and bunk beds for the 19 and 23 year olds with the newleyweds in a king or 2 queen bed room.

Finally, you could consider 3 rooms at a moderate or value resort - requesting 2 connecting rooms for you and the 19/23 yr olds. Then get another separate room for the newleyweds. That way everyone would have their own sleeping space. Pop century is perhaps the nicest of the value resorts for all adults and you can walk over to the new AoA and check that out. AoA is an option as well in the LM rooms, but it would be less likely to get a discount there - important if budget is an issue.

If you have AAA get that discount if you can for now and keep an eye on these boards for GP RO discounts or free dining as your dates draw near.

Incidentally, I think it's funny that so many propose that the newlyweds get their own room and my husband and I share with the other two kids. We just spent a bucket of money on their wedding, therefore, I'm not so inclined to pay for their private room on this trip while I share mine!

That's what I was thinking, too! I'd put the four kids -- newly married couple and the other two in their own room and then get a room for DH and you. You will have the additional adult charge for the two kids no matter what, so you might as well stick them with the newlyweds. I think it's pretty nice of you to be paying for all of this anyway and, were I your child, I'd either offer to pay or say I'd sleep on the floor!

If you can swing it, I'd choose an Epcot resort just for the proximity to Epcot and DHS. We've stayed at the Boardwalk a few times and just love it.

As far as I know, the AoA suites only have 2 living areas and the suites are more expensive than 2 regular rooms. I would make sure the newlyweds get their own room, which leaves you with 4 adults in a standard hotel room. The value resorts all have double beds. I consider that a disadvantage for adults.

I would suggest that you consider getting 2 rooms at one of WDW's moderate resorts or over at the Swan near Epcot (the Swan is generally the same price as Disney's moderates). You will get a bigger room, queen sized beds (or a King bed for the newlyweds ) and more amenities like a sit-down restaurant in your resort and a hot tub in the pool area. A 2 bedroom Disney Vacation Club villa would also work out well for you too: one couple in the master bedroom, one couple in the 2nd bedroom and then the other kids on the couch or maybe one in the living room and one in the 2nd bedroom with you. You can rent DVC points at a fraction of the cost of what Disney charges for the same villa. Check out the DVC rent board for more information.

ETA: I would also suggest one of the Epcot resorts if you go with DVC. The proximity of Epcot is worthwhile for older teens and adults.

I'd go with Art of Animation and get a family suite for you, your hubby and the adult kids. I would book a separate room for the newlyweds, requesting a king bed.

Ordinarily, I would suggest that adults avoid sleeping on pull-outs, but kids in or barely out of their teens ought to be able to manage (and, importantly, they won't have to share which is what is really hard for adults on a pull out). You and your dh take the family suite's separate bedroom with queen bed and your own bath. The newlyweds have their own room.

The only issue with this is whether you are willing to stay at a value resort, but since you mentioned AoA, I assume you are. I don't see much difference, actually, between the values and the moderates (especially with the suggested 1 room, 1 suite approach). Actually, the family suite should be nicer than a moderate. The values don't have slides or towels at the pool, but that never struck me as a dealbreaker. The values also don't have an on-site restaurant (just a food court), but, again, not a dealbreaker.

Have you considered renting points through David's DVC rentals? It's a great way to go as long as you understand how it works.
You should be able to get a two bedroom villa for about the same price as two regular resort rooms. A two bedroom consists of a master with a king bed, a living room with a sleep sofa (have yet to have any issue sleeping on them and dd is 5'10'' and dh is 6'4'') a full kitchen, washer and dryer and a separate studio (through the doorway) that has a queen bed, sleep sofa and a kitchenette. Might be worth looking at.
If the kids don't want to share a bed, there is plenty of room for an aero bed in there.

Have you thought about renting a 2 bedroom villa from a DVC member as opposed to booking your room from Disney? It will be significantly cheaper renting points. Most DVC members rent between $10-$12pp, so what you would pay for a Suite at AoA or 3 rooms, would run about the same if you rented from DVC.

Agree, but I'd go BCV or BWV, just love all of the restaurants & easy access to EPCOT & a short boat ride to DHS.
