Okay, sounds silly, I know.

What resort has the best pool area for the wee babies?

Our daughter is under two and we are curious as to which resort has the best pool for the little ones? I know that we can take her in the big pools (with the proper swim diapers, of course) but we'd like to know which resort has other areas for kiddies to play in the water. Things like beach entry on the regular pool, big kiddie pool, squirty water area, etc...

Thanks!

Kathy

I think most of the WDW resorts have a kiddie pool at all their main pools -- That being said, the nicer ones that I've found are at the deluxe resorts. The Polynesian and Grand Floridian both have zero entry large pools and have jumping fountains for the little ones to run through as well. By far though, SAB at the Yacht & Beach Club resorts has the best pool area for both young children and all ages. They have a sand bottom pool, and a lazy river pool and a beach area type pool where the kids can play in shallow water and sand like being at the beach but are still at the pool:D

If the deluxe resorts are not in your budget though the Moderate resorts have main pools with a smaller kiddie pool as well. I would think that the value resorts have them too but can't say for sure as I've never stayed at one.

Hope that helps.;)

Just a note, your child will have to wear swim diapers even in the kiddie pools. I personally don't like the zero entry pools at the GF and Poly for really little ones, it just seems that they (and me) are always getting run over by some larger child running into the pool at the zero entry. I'm more fond of the pools with nice child areas. They would be WL and SAB at the YC/BC. I've never stayed at the BW, but they also have a similiar area. I'd have to vote SAB my favorite though. with the sandy area, there is just more than water for the kids to play with and they seem to love it!!!

At 24 months DS loved SAB! He had fun playing in the sand & wasn't afraid of the water.

At the same age he was ok with the AKL pool. The kiddie pool is nothing special, but he enjoyed the other kids there. The big pool took him a looong time to get used to, even though it's zero depth entry.

We also got to visit the GF pool because of a burst pipe at the polynesian pool (we were just there one night before going home & didn't get to try their big pool). It was very crowded, even though WDW in general was empty. The theme pool is very small! He liked it, but it was nothing special and some parts were scary (the waterfall). The big pool at the GF was not so busy and would have been great for him with water wings, if we had remembered to bring them!

DS really likes the wings now (2 1/2) and likes "swimming" around in deeper water with mom & dad nearby. The ideal water for this is shallow enough for us to walk in, maybe 4 ft?

My then, 18 month old, LOVED the pool at the AKL because of the zero entry. He's not a big fan of regular pools and will usually only play on the steps but with the zero entry he didn't even blink and just walked on in and wouldn't get out-lol.

I'd definitely go with a zero entry- Grand Floridian, Poly or Animal Kingdom Lodge have them.

I'll second all the votes for SAB at YC/BC. We stayed there for our daughter's 2nd birthday and she LOVED the pool. She could play in the sand right at the water's edge and the sand bottom on the pool made it very easy for her to walk around. Another plus is that this area is kind of shallow... she was able to move around on her own without us having to keep a hand on her at all times. She did wear her water wings which made it very easy for her to exert some independance. On a plus note, we also forgot to bring her water wings so had to buy a pair there at the shop near the pool. I was surprised to find that they cost less than the pair I'd picked up at Wal-Mart for home use.... ya don't get many nice surprises like that in WDW!:)

I just found an old copy of Disney Magazine that featured "the best Disney pools". Listed at the #1 for children is the YB&C because of it's sandy bottom and how it is somewhat away from the main flow of the pool area. It seems very nice for little ones.

If you are on a budget, you can check out ASMu. The piano pool has steps painted like keys and little ones love to sit on them and control their entry into the pool. Also, the guitar pool has a wading pool near it.

The Swan and Dolphin also have a kiddy pool but I won't be able to check it out until our stay there in August. You can see photos on Deb Wills' WDWIG site.

SAB at YC/BC is great. With the 'beach' area and zero entry it is very little kid friendly. Our son was 17 months when we were there in December and he loved it.

Our kids second favorite is the kiddie pool at the WL. This is a seperate kiddie pool. What is so nice about it is it's size. It is very large as kiddie pools go. Our son loved this pool as well, and our daughter always has a ball making friends with the other kids.
