I'm starting to plan our next Disney trip, although it won't be until Oct. 2008. We want to stay 9 or 10 nights at a value or moderate and get the dining plan. It is my understanding that you can only get dining as part of a package. That is fine. Is there any way to get a discount on this package other than with AAA? We have AAA so that is no problem. I'm just looking for the best price. (We have done free dining twice but want to go a little later in the Fall next time.) Also, does AAA discount the whole package or just the room rate part of it? Thanks for any info.

For us AAA seemedoto discount the entire package -- that is, I booked pacakge thru AAA and it was cheper than booking a room only with AAA discount & then buying tickets.

I don't know about the AAA questions.

You can only get the dining plan if you purchase a package. But, let me tell you, it was well worth every dime we paid. I paid just a little over $800 for the dining package and we ate over $1,400 in food over a ten days time. With the dining plan, we were more apt to try new restaurants and new foods. It was so nice to know that we could go into a restaurant, order anything we wanted on the menu and not even have to worry about paying the tip!

If you want to get a round about price of what your package will be, go online and get a price quote at 2007 rates and then add a little to it. I was told the package prices go up about 15% annually but others have said they were told just about 7%. At least that way, you'd know about what you can expect to pay next year.

October is "regular" season. AAA discounts run 15% off the room rate at a value or moderate resort during regular season. The tickets and dining plan costs are the same. In 2006, there was a nice discount offered on packages to the general public. I don't know exactly what, but it did come out cheaper than the AAA discount.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Now it looks like the trip may be moved up to May '08. YEA!!! We talked to a AAA agent this week and will probably book it thru her when the '08 rates come out.
