Best prediction for the opening week of Galaxy's Edge

They did something like that for the first Harry Potter area. When we went there, fairly soon after it opened, we were given 'tickets' to get into the Harry Potter area.

Once we were in there, we could stay as long as we wanted. It was still crowded, but not as bad as it could be.

Disney could do that by requiring a fast pass for either of the rides to get in.

Its not so easy as that...a FP for a ride means a patron will enter at a specified time slot, and leave that ride at a time approximately 20-30 mins later after they have gone through the shortened queue and ride. Entering a land could have someone stay there for 1 hour or the entire day. That makes it difficult to offer access FP's as someone may enter at a designated time and stay for as long as they want. The only way to control crowds will be to limit access to the area, and make it known well in advance that there will be no queue for entry into GE. Perhaps a limit to WDW Resort guests for weekends, DVC/Annual Pass Holders on Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Mondays a hard ticket day. (This is my take on it, It has not been leaked by Disney and I'm just throughing out some examples)

Even allowing FP holders to stay in the land as long as they liked would still provide vastly more sanity and control than making it a free-for-all. Because Disney will have to do something, to maintain public safety and prevent possible injuries and deaths. Without controlled access, they will need to cap the number of people in GE at a certain level, and inevitably there will be many people waiting as close as they are allowed to wait to get in to GE as people leave it, which would be much messier than having a more organized system of access control.

One thing that will be different with SWGE at DLR is the lack of preselected fastpasses. I'm scared thinking how will that crowd be managed.
