Best possible locations at the water parks for free shade and relaxation for the day?

Haven't been to the water parks in years. But plan on returning to one or both of them next Fall. Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite, but I do like them both. So this is my burning question. If we get to "rope drop" at either one and want to find one of the best places to "camp" for the day that will offer a good bit of shade and such, where would that be at either park? I do not want to pay extra for what Disney has to offer in that regards, just want to stake out the best possible free locations. Thanks!

There are tons of spots - just find something along the north side of a treeline.

I was wondering if there that many places still available or if Disney took all the best ones. I am now wondering if it would really be worth it to cough up the money for the umbrella set ups? I was thinking that the umbrella package was only good for two people, but then looking I seen it was good for four, so I might be re-considering it possibly. Still like the idea of finding nice shade for free though. Lol.

I know you said you wanted free, but if you pay just a small amount for a reserved umbrella (around $60), you don't have to worry about getting there early, or stress over getting a shady spot or wonder who is gonna camp out next to you. You will have a prime reserved spot, two loungers, two chairs, an umbrella and 4 towels. Get there whenever you want...no need to rush.

Our family loved our secluded spot just above the wave pool. Disney does a good job keeping people out of the reserved area.

Just a thought.

I was thinking of going during the very end of September, or Columbus Day week, if that might change anything. Prefer Columbus Day week, so it might be more crowded?

Are you planning to not get in the water at all? Just relaxing in the shade all day? In my experience any chair left unattended after 30 minutes is fair game. We live by a bunch of water parks here in Wisconsin and chair saving is a problem. So if you want a prime spot and keep it all day, I would encourage paying for one.

I have never had a problem with that at a Disney water park and I've never heard a report of that happening.
