Both sweet and savoury - I've got a fresh bag of kernals and dusted off the hot air maker, but everyone gets so bored with plain and I thought I'd make some for when we watch Christmas movies - Muppet Christmas Carol is the official start of the Christmas Movie season on St Nicholas day (that's tomorrow) but we've got a whole list of movies lines up - including Die Hard (DS16):rolleyes1

TIA

I simply melt some butter, add some taco seasoning (or: 1 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp garlic) to the butter and toss gently. Note: When your spices are in alphabetical order, don't accidentally pick up the cloves (ground) when you are reaching for the chili powder. It just doesn't taste the same (not the first time you do it, not the second, and even not the third) :rolleyes1

BTW, Muppet Christmas Carol is our favourite, too. They come from all over the house-as 'adults'-to sit, watch and sing....We're Marley and Marley. I finally bought the DVD, since I don't have a VCR anymore, and we can't have Christmas without the Muppets. AND I bought the DVD's for my oldest daughters (18, 23). The youngest (15) is getting Elmo Saves Christmas.

Christmas traditions. Christmas memories.

My family loves this recipe.

Kettle Corn Recipe

ingredients
1/2 C popcorn
1/3 C veg oil
1/4 C sugar
salt to taste (I like popcorn salt)

Put 1 kernel of popcorn in the oil in a large pot and heat to popping temp.

Once that pops add the rest of the popcorn.

When that starts to pop, add the sugar and stir to melt quickly.

Cover and occasionally shake till the popping slows way down.

Be careful not to burn it.

If you can, immerse pot in couple inches of water in the sink to force the old maids to pop.

Then pour the kettle corn into a heat proof container.

Salt, stir and salt again.

Let it cool, the melted sugar is really hot and will stick to and burn your fingers.

Stir to break up the big pieces.

Cool, then remove to airtight container or plastic bag, if you have any left :)

Will stay fresh a few days.
