Best pool on property?

Got to agree that Yacht/Beach has the best pool - Stormalong Bay. The other resorts don't even come close.

For us, its SAB at the YC/BC. Reasons;

1. you MUST be a guest to use the pool. show resort ID and get a wrist band. There are reports that this is not the case after 6-7pm which at that point the pool hoppers arrive. BUT there are reports that they check resort id cards up to 9pm. There is good info on the YC/BC thread edition-March 2012

2. Its huge. The lazy river, the sand bottom, pool waitresses, there are alot of chairs..although we would like there to be more tables but its not an issue.

2nd Choice would be---Poly's Pool.
1. The theme of it.
2. the view and sounds of the MK while relaxing, watching the monorail go by.

Two negatives about the Poly pool;
1. small
2. way too many pool hoppers.

we are paying big money to stay at the resort of our choice, we feel we and the other resort guest should be the ONLY ones to have use of the pool.

this doesnt happen at the Poly. I will never forget the site of seeing people already in their pool garb getting off the boats in flocks coming to use the poly pool a few years back. That was it for us.

SAB is the best. !!!:beach:

Beach Club/Yacht Club http://allears.net/acc/g_sab.htm The pics say it all!

Thank you so much for this! Love the pics!!!

Does anyone happen to know the answer...
On our next trip, we have dining reservations at Poly... Will we be able to walk around and check out the pool area (not swim) while we are there? Also... We are dropping our daughters off at the Sandcastle club at BC for a few hours one night. Will we be able to check out that pool area without bracelets. Again, we won't be there to swim, just walk around.

Thanks!!

Absolutely! On one of our trips, we rode the monorail and stopped at all the monorail resorts to have a look around. Try it some time if you are taking a day off from parks. We have breakfast at 1900 PF than got on the monorail and explored for the rest of the morning. Fun times!

We are staying at BC for the first time this October- mainly because it has the coolest pool- so I would agree with above posters. Only ever tried the AKL and POR pools before, and they were both fun, but seems like nothing will hold a candle to SAB at BC!

Definitely BC/YC. After that, my guess would be CSR (though I've never stayed there. Poly pool is WAY too small for the size of the resort. BW seems to have a good sized pool and my kids really liked the pool at CBR.

The pool area at the Poly is all open so you can walk around there as you wish.

As for SAB at BC/YC, the pool area is fenced and they check everyone's KTTW card to make sure you are staying at either BC or YC. They will not let you inside the pool area but you can walk around outside the fence.

I think that SAB is definitely the best pool on property. The 3 quiet pools at BC/YC are pretty nice as well, and hardly ever crowded.

My vote goes to SAB as well .... For all the reasons stated by the PP 's

We're in the minority as we love the volcano pool at the Poly over SAB at the BC/YC. For us, nothing beats having the beach right behind the pool and having a view of the castle off in the distance while swimming. Plus the slide is easy to get to, unlike the slide at SAB where it's not conveniently accessible. With that said, we didn't dislike SAB, we just prefer the volcano pool at the Poly.

SAB at the Y&B. We live locally and work at WDW but we still pay for rooms at the Y&B so we can spend time at SAB!!!

Haven't been to BC/YC yet but Im sure it is the We're going to find out this summer if the clown at BWV is all thats it's cracked up to be...LOL.

Also SSR has the main pool by the SPrings which is very nice too...The paddock is just a step behind that one,although it is newer..

We liked Storm aLong Bay but my kids prefer the slide at the Poly. Like the pp said theres nothing like swimming at looking at the castle!!

Ooops forgot to say yesterday. What about Coronado springs? Theres is very nice too. And the way they open the pool with the tiki God.. Nice.:thumbsup

Do you think if we ask a CM they will let us in just to walk around if we explain why we are there?

It won't be an issue. We do that all the time. I realize there are those who say that you can't get into the pool area without a CM checking your room key...but I have yet to have that happen. I know that when I was staying at BWV and waiting for my dh to arrive at YC (he was attending a business meeting there), I just hung out at the pool area. I had street clothes on, so some guests gave me some funny looks, but since I took a seat way to the back, no one really cared.
Now...as for swimming there??? I know that the times we stayed there, we saw many people in the pool and around the pool, without wrist bands on. We watched as families took over several shaded tables and many poolside chaises.....they left their clothing there, while they swam. They had no wristbands on. After about an hour, they put their clothes on (regular street clothes), over their bathing suits, and walked out onto the public sidewalk area, and headed towards Epcot. I arrive at the pool around 2ish, and am hard pressed to find a seat anywhere near the actual pool...which means I can't actively keep an eye on my child. Of course, now that she's a young adult it's not an issue, but years ago it was. And those sitting closer to the pool had no bands on either. There were many times that I was never asked for a room key. Sure, if I wanted to get a towel, I had to show my room key and they handed me a towel and a wristband.
This is the one main reason I won't stay at YC/BC again. I got really tired of fighting for space.
Much happier over at the nasty old clown pool!!!

I find that amazing since every time we've stayed at BC or YC we have to show keys for the whole family at the entrances. They always have cms near the towels racks checking. On our last stay they were even checking them at night.

Last September we had to go back to our room to get my 8 month old DDs room key before they would let us in. Nobody got past that CM without proper ID! :rotfl:

Good policy though! :thumbsup2

Our favorites are;
1. SAB-love the lazy river and I think they have the best programs for kids. We have stayed here twice over the last year, June and November and both times had to have wristbands for everyone in our group and had to produce a room key for each person to get the wristbands.

2. Polynesian-kids love the slide but it's too small for the resort size. I don't actively look for pool hoppers so I never noticed if anyone was from another resort, however we were asked for room keys to get towels several times. We were there last June and were given writbands.

3 Wilderness Lodge- large pool, nice slide, nice bar. This was the one place we saw a lot of pool hoppers, but they were being obnoxious about it. It was also the only place where I have seen anyone asked to leave for not being a guest

4. Bay Lake Tower-Lots of room, the kids loved the slide, it's gated with key access so it was never really busy
