We will be at SSR from 8/9/-8/16--and we will make good use of a resort pool. Last time we stayed in the Paddock area and my kids loved the pool. Since the remodel--it looks like that pool area is more suited for younger kids. (Mine are 14 and 8--and good swimmers.) What SSR area should I request for our stay-- keeping in mind that the Congress Park pool will be closed during our stay?

Grandstand is the only one left, but well suited to the teen crowd (and adults as well - it has a snack bar and offers all adult libations)

I may be wrong, but I thought the new Paddock pool has a larger surface area, and the new, larger slide.
There is also a small slide for younger kids, but that kids area should help make the main pool more suitable for older kids.

You have the Springs area as well. It has the biggest slide at SSR, two hot tubs and is close to the counter service food at Artist Palette. It also has a quick serve bar/snack area next to the pool. Our kids are roughly the same age and love this area.

The new Paddock pool is quite nice. I am guessing that your 14 and 8 year old will love it.
Staying at Kidani, we pool hopped one day over to the new pool at Paddock(checked w/ the front desk first) and the family said, it is now the best slide in Disney, they said even better then Stormalong.

The Paddock slide is now larger-longer then the Springs.

Wow, didnt now that about the Paddock slide..... might have to re-think our location for December....

Thanks for the info

Thanks for all of the suggestions! When we were there 2 years ago in July the Springs area was so busy we could never find a place to put our stuff. Hopefully with the opening of the new Paddock area--it will make the crowd more dispersed between the two areas.
