Best Point & Shoot camera for night/low light shots?

Ixus in Europe (& GB) = Elph in the USA, for what it's worth.

Not all are created equal. My wife's Elph SD600 is pretty much useless in the dark without the flash (or a tripod.) The higher-end ones might be better; some have the larger sensor, but not all.

yes, I'm hoping the newer models have some better features, maybe?
I'm considering the Canon SD800 because I like that its small, big LCD, and it actually has an ISO setting. On my old old old digi cam there wasn't even a place to change ISO settings.
Its really a toss up between the canon S3 IS and the SD800. Both are totally different from each other, but both have their own little good features that are worth looking at.

JMHO, but the high-ISO performance on these two does not appear stellar to me. The SD800 appears to have less noise, but perhaps at the expense of reduced detail. That may not be a huge deal, but your OP indicated that you needed low light capability.

Otherwise, I'm sure both of these cameras are very fine instruments, and may very well suit your needs.
