I will agree. The train station at MK is a great place to watch the parades. In EPOCOT, the Japan pavilion has a nice balcony to watch the fireworks from. Also, if you like the food at Rose and Crown, book a late dinner and ask to sit outside. You have a great view from R&C.
In MK, if you can book a Terrace Dessert Party it's totally the best unobstructed view of the Fireworks plus the Electrical parade (and fabulous desserts from all over WDW)! otherwise we enjoy being in Frontierland at the top of the hill by Splash Mountain--it affords you a view down the street in addition to what is going right by you. At EPCOT last week we stumbled upon a great spot in front of the Japanese department store; agree with the previous poster about R&C or getting a late counter service at the Mexican pavilion is a great viewing area too.
