Best Places To Take Mid-Day Breaks Within Disney's Animal Kingdom

So correct. With Animal Kingdom feeling like the hottest park (to us at least), it would sure be nice to have more indoor A/C available. We tend to see the Nemo show just after lunch when the heat is getting intense. That's our way for a break. Then we might head to Dinasaur for a cool ride.

"Restaurantosaurus wins here, offering plentiful indoor, air-conditioned seating in a richly themed environment." Plus free refills on the beverages so you can just kind of hang out and have a cold beverage and rest up. Some of the dining rooms are actually kind of dark as not much sunshine gets in the windows. We always do lunch here.

Tough to be a bug, is also a fine place to catch some quick relief.

I have been told Rafiki Planet Watch and the Lion King Show are air conditioned.

If you just want a catnap, the Sounds of the Rainforest booths at Rafiki's Planet Watch are air conditioned and dark -- and if you don't put on the headphones they're quiet too. (If you do put on the headphones, the experience is about 5 minutes).

Before I get flamed, I would never recommend using these booths for this purpose if there is a line of people waiting to use them, nor would I recommend an extended stay. However, frequently when I've been there (late August) they are roughly 1/3 empty at any given time. Under those conditions, I wouldn't hesitate to take a small child who needs a few moments of peace to calm down enough to fall asleep / become quite drowsy and then be placed in a stroller into one for this purpose, or to set an alarm on my iphone for 15 minutes and use it for a nap myself.

I've used this tip a couple times. The only time I've been to Restaurantosaurus is for this. Pizzafari in mid-afternoon is another peaceful spot. And if I don't need air conditioning that trip, a couple round-trip rides to Rafiki's Planet Watch work. They don't make you get off.

Absolutely agree with this tip! It is my favorite AK secret. Even five minutes of sitting in one of those booths is enormously refreshing. I've also never seen all of them use and would have no qualms about staying 15 minutes or so.

We also always make an ADR at Yak & Yeti on AK day. The food isn't the best but it is good and it is the one park for which I absolutely need a leisurely sit-down lunch. The tables upstairs are also pretty quiet.

We are going to try Restaurantosaurus on our next trip. We were wondering about it because of the mixed reviews. Thanks for the tip about the refills!
