Best places to eat inside Universal?

I am looking for eats inside Universal Studios. :magnify:

There is a dining sticky that you might want to check out at the top of this forum.

My recommendations inside the studios:

Sit down: Finnegan's, Lombards
counter service: Leaky Cauldron, Louie's, Boulangerie

Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina I second the Big Pink Donut at Lard Lad. We bought one and we all sampled it. It was huge rich and decadent. Yummy. I would be impressed to find out if anyone has been able to polish that off on their own. :cake:

Ha! My husband could do it, without batting an eyelash. I think he only shared with me this time because he felt obligated to do so :rotfl: .

That's funny. That donut is one monster. A person could plant their face in that and not come up for days. Then walk around in a carbohydrate induced stupor for hours. :yay:

I find myself gravitating toward's Mel's Drive In in Univiersal.

you might regret eating there......

it's a rarity that someone states they love Mels

i tried the place 3 times.
3 strikes and you are out...

burgers, fries might be at room temperature ... or you could get lucky when they have fresh ones

We loved Lombards its great if you like seafood and a bargain on the cinematic spectacular package. I also recommend bubba gumps at city walk.

I found the food quality really high at universal, we didnt eat a bad meal!

Speaking of eating at the parks, has anyone done the Dining Plan at Universal? Is it worth it?

for me the full dining plan wouldn't be the way i would go.
could end up costing me more than the full price for it.

but i do use the counter service plan and come out ahead by about $6 based on how i use it.

Louie's for cs and straight over to Ben &Jerrys for dessert........ Simpsons food court has some nice options.......we enjoyed the turkey wraps, meat pizza, shrimp and chicken was nice too. Did not like the burgers.

Will always avoid Mel's.......not nice. And won't go back to Richters either. Not interested in food options from Potter restaurants.

Love Lombards......nice place with excellent food at inexpensive prices. I'm not a fan of Finnegans but plenty enjoy it.

IOA- mythos, broomsticks, thunder falls terrace

US- ice cream in diagonal alley, I had a sandwich somewhere in this park that was good but I can't remember where

City walk- moe's is decent, sandwich place is ok, bubba's is ok, cowfish is good

Last September, I remember the Simpsons food court area being super busy during lunchtime. How's things there these days?

We are just back, and hands down, the favorite meal we ate inside the park was the family feast at Three Broomsticks. It was an awesome value at $49.99 for 4 portions (4 rotisserie chicken quarters, 4 sets of 2-3 ribs, 4 ears of roasted corn on the cob, with family style portions of roasted potatoes, roasted veggies (broccoli, carrots, red peppers), and salad.

Finegan's was a very close second, with a wide variety of food and a great location.

We also ate at Richter's (burgers and chicken sandwiches, "cafeteria food" per dh), Simpsons Fast Food Blvd (we had fish, pizza, chicken, big pink - very average), and the Hard Rock just outside the parks (good food and service, typical of a HRC anywhere).

Warning: the days we lunched at Simpsons and at Three Broomsticks (6/7 and 6/12) the credit card systems went down. Completely kaput. They were forced to use the old fashioned imprint machines in order to take credit cards, and in this day and age when you just need the numbers to go nuts online, that is simply not secure enough for me. Fortunately, we had cash "just in case". Unfortunately, this can kill your AmEx discount. At Simpsons, they took my AAA card for the discount even without the voucher, but if I didn't have the card, they would not have given me a discount, even though I had 2 different AmEx accounts with me. At Three Broomsticks, they fudged me an AP discount, since it was "their issue." In both cases, I had to ask (nicely!) for them to honor the fact that I could have paid with a card that gave me a discount in order to get it.

We did use the AmEx for all other meals and snacks (except the carts), and they gave us the AmEx discount with no problems. I specifically asked as I handed the card over each time.

We ate at the Simpsons food court in March and it wasn't that bad at lunchtime. It was a decent crowd day as it was during spring break period. The lines moved quickly and there was enough seating.

I don't go to Mel's (or Universal for that matter) for the food so I try to make lunch as quick as possible. I also have an affinity for drive ins which is why I like Mel's. I also have never had a burger at "room temperature"

Lines were very long at lunch time when I was there in March. Out the door. They were still pretty long around 2:30pm, but there were plenty of tables - even inside Moe's.

As far as counter service goes, Simpson's Fast Food Blvd is my favorite choice at US. At IOA, Thunder Falls is pretty good. I've only eaten at Lombard's for table service (parks close early enough to do dinner at City Walk and not waste park time eating) for the Cinematic Spectacular dinner. Lombard's is decent chain food.
