Best place to work remotely?

My family is headed down next week, but I will unfortunately have to work remotely from 8-5 on Th-F.

Could I please get some recommendations on good (quiet) spots to work, preferably with a power outlet accessible? We are staying at Pop and I will have a car.

Your room is probably the simplest. Put up that second bed and work at the table.

Thursday will be a resort day for my kids, so it'll be tough with them coming in and out all day.

Plus, I'd just prefer somewhere more scenic. I will be at Disney World after all

You could go camp out in one of the lobbies of a deluxe hotel but I don’t know if there will be plug access there probably not. You could easily get to Epcot resorts via the Skyliner. Pop’s Food court is going to be noisy in the morning.

I’ve worked a few hours here and there at Disney, and for a full day, I really would just use my room. Along with the laptop, I personally need a table, a real chair, an outlet, a mouse, and air conditioning to work a full day. I’ve used QS restaurants, Discovery Island trails at AK, amphitheater at AK, Tom Sawyer’s Island at MK, benches on the walkways between Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge in HS, AKL lobby, my resort pool area, couches on the floor by the convention area at CR, food court at resort mid day, and that’s about it. But none of those have been good for more than a couple of hours at a time.

If the family is around the resort all day one day, pools area is quiet before 10-11 am, then the food court isn’t bad mid day, and after lunch to 5, kick the the family out to the pool, arcade, resort activities and use the room.

The second floor elevator area of Tokelau at Poly worked well for me. It’s quiet, good wifi access, had a plug, a comfy enough chair, and I was able to balance the laptop on my lap.

Have also taken calls in Grand Floridian Big Pine Key lobby. Surprisingly loud there (I didn’t help with that), would not recommend.

I have thought about working at one of the lounges (Solarium at Beach Club, or the cool dark one at Riviera) but do not know if they have charging access. There’s also the convention centre at Yacht/Beach Club, but the few times I’ve popped my head in, there have actually been conventions going on.

The Contemporary has several floors with couches and tables. But it can get fairly busy there.

If I was having any sensitive work discussions, would do it in my room, even if kids are in and out.

I would just use my hotel room...but my "office" has my kids playroom in the back part, so I'm used to them traipsing through when they do happen to be home during my work hours (which is usually snow days)

I did a lot of time in various DVC during Covid. I did one of my best projects in a deafening chair on the top floor of the Poly lobby.

The best spot I found was the DVC Beach Club library sitting room. Check out a map, DVC is a separate building. It's usually empty, or someone else is working. Also, the sunroom or atrium or whatever they call it (edit: Solarium) right across the courtyard at Beach Club. Everyone is on a laptop. This can be loud. There's a TV, people are eating, and you're right off the lobby. This is accessible from the Epcot skyliner from Pop. Plenty of plugs in both.

The DVC Boulder Ridge lobby is usually empty and it's GORGEOUS. There's a weird private room I got into a few times which was the absolute best. This is accessible by boat from MK, so bus to MK, boat to WL.

The Yacht Club convention center has hallways and hallways and rooms that are always creepy and empty (obviously not if there is a conference). It has plugs and wifi and AC, and no one will bug you. You could work here, but there won't be a comfortable set up unless you can sneak into a room or move a chair around or something. Also Skyliner access.

If a rocking chair and being outside works for you, the viewing decks from the AKL Kidani lobby is surprisingly not crowded, impossible to get a better view. I've done some work from there. Obv kids will come and go. The inside part, I think they call it the library?, usually has some people working, but also has plugs and AC. It can be loud with people eating and it is right off the main lobby.

If you need to make phone calls, this is much harder. There aren't many private places or places where being on a call or Zoom isn't disruptive. I did a Zoom while another guy was doing one about a real estate deal in the DVC Beach Club library. I did more than a few very sweaty and outside.

The business centers are a total joke.

Your room is the obvious answer, but these are some other options.

Bring a portable charger so you can at least leave that on a charger across the room. There are plugs, but they might not be right where you are sitting.

Since you're at Pop and on the Skyliner, I'd recommend looking into the Solarium at the Beach Club. To preface this, I'm not sure if there are outlets, but maybe someone else here would know speciics. If the outlet situation is agreeable, I'd think the Solarium would be a great place to work. It's just outside of the Beach Club marketplace, so you'd have food and coffee right at hand. It's bright, pretty, and quiet, and could be a nice change of scenery for you.

Just know you won't be able to drive and park at most resorts without a dining reservation and even then is supposed to be 3 hours. If you want to go to a hotel think about how to utilize Disney transportation.

This is a great idea. I'm honestly not exactly sure where the Solarium is within the Beach Club Resort. There doesn't seem to be very much information available on it on the web.

I don’t know what your budget is like, but would it be worth it to rent a cheap hotel room or Air BNB outside the gates just to work in. Even if it’s a dump

Outside the box thinking, I love it! I I have honestly never looked at hotel prices off-site, but I will check it out!

I can't think of anything at Poly - such an old resort I don't think it was built with relaxing in mind.

Look at Disney’s BoardWalk, then you can head to the Belle Vue Lounge. This lounge is only open for breakfast from 7AM to 11AM and then later in the evening from 5PM to 11PM. It looks like you can still stay in the space in between they just won't be serving.

I sat and worked for a bit in Animal Kingdom Lodge Victoria Falls Lounge. Pretty quiet even when open but that is not until 4. Before I think you can just wander in and get comfy. AKL also has some small quiet indoor balcony areas overlooking Savanna.

Wilderness Lodge has lots of small seating areas around the overlooks of the atrium. Even a couple corners downstairs. Not as easy to get to though.

I think there are Lounges that are closed until around 4 pm but some are accessible to sit in and work. Check around about Crew's Club at Yacht Club,

The solarium at Beach Club is across from the QS/gift shop at Beach Club.

We worked during our last Disney trip, but we both have jobs where we had to be on private calls or zoom calls some, so working out of our condo rental worked best. If I didn't have to do that, I might find a nice spot on Disney property (go down the stairs to the benches to the right of Space Mountain is almost always empty.)

If you need to make private/video calls that are work related, I would do that from your room for the least potential for distraction. There will obviously be electrical outlets around and most Disney places have wifi connections available. You could also sit outside on your patio (if your place has one) if housekeeping shows up or there are noises from others in your family in your room. While you can use various public areas around Disney resorts, you have no idea if others will be around or you will be alone the entire time.

A Disney park wouldn't be my first choice since you have to lug your PC with you and then what do you do with it once your business calls are over?

DH has had to work on college homework and be "in class" and we found a table in the far back of the food court at ASMusic (there are tons with outlets) and he was able to be in class and do homework, PLUS it was near the soda fountains so I could go back and forth to refill our drink mugs

In addition to the above, the old check-in lobby at Coronado Speings has been converted to work tables with outlets and good lighting and wi-Fi. If you make a breakfast ressie at Rix, you can get in and park. Molly and Alan from Mammoth Club recently did a staycation at destino tower and they show the lobby extensively.
