I can't wait to watch the sunset in Key West. I dont have a verandah, and I'd like to catch it on land, depending on what time the sun actually sets in early May. I have the late seating, but daylight savings will be in place by then. Has anyone done the sunset sail western schooner? Or is there a beach/bar? Any idea what time the sun sets? Are there any hot spots that you suggest? I'll probably take the kids to Margaritaville to get a cheeseburger. Are there any nice beaches at a hotel that can be used?

Some of the places to see and feel the sunset in Key West is at the top of the LaConcha Hotel which is located at the corner of Duval and Fleming Street - you have a 360 degree view of the city of Key West - there was a restaurant there, but don't know if they are still opened - also you can go next to Mallory Square to the Hilton and watch it from their "back porch" -
It is a beautiful sight - it like you can reach out and touch the sun - was born and raised with that sunset and sunrise for many many years - Norm and I never thought anything about it until 15 or so years ago - it is worth seeing.

Are you on the May 7th Western???

Come join us over in the cruise meet boards
there are lots of us on this cruise. :sunny:
I believe the sun sets around 8:00

The pier is loaded with performers about 1 hour before sunset

Goofytwo,
yup, I'm going! Well, 99% sure I'm going. I have one small wrinkle to iron out. I'll come find you on the cruisemeets board and we can chat!

Shirley... I was hoping you would jump in here on this thread. I'm going with quite a crew... my ds4, dd8,dd10, dh and my cranky father, as well as my brother, sil and neice. We don't have to arm in arm the entire day. Do you have any suggestions on where to go? We will probably do a tour for starters, and since half of the group are a bunch of parrotheads (which I am NOT) I'm sure they will venture over to Margaritaville. We will catch the sunset somehow, some way. Do you suggest any excursions, tours, beaches, shops?
Thanks a bunch!
