Best place to stay with toddlers?

Everyone has their favorites, which depends on what they are looking for in a resort. Are you looking to save money, have the best transportation, nicest pool, etc.? Is this a once in a lifetime trip or do you plan to go back often? Which parks will you spend most of your time (I'm assuming MK since you have young children? Will you have a car? It also depends on how much time you will spend at the resort and if you are going at a time of the year that you will be using the pools a lot.

We've stayed at the Poly, Contemporary, WL, AKL and the Swan. Also at Coronado Springs and I will be staying at Pop with my 4yo. We have 4 children so that influences where we can stay. Before my youngest was born and when he was under 3yo we stayed at the deluxes because we could all fit in one room. We didn't mind sharing the bathroom and liked what the deluxes had to offer as far as transportation and nice pools. This next visit I didn't want to spend a lot since it is a bonus trip for my 4yo and myself. Next January we hope to go back to WDW as a family and will probably stay at a value or mod because we will need two rooms (or maybe at the cabins).

You really can't go wrong and I think splitting a stay between two resorts is a great way to try out different resorts.

Hello fellow Mainer (OP)!

We stayed at AKL last March with our DS1 and DS3 and we loved it. We did not mind the buses at all. As for folding the double stroller, well, we had to do that when we tried to get on the crowded monorail, too. We just thought it was the perfect peaceful location after a busy day in the parks. And it will always be a special memory that my younger DS said one of his first real words while standing on the balcony looking at a giraffe: "Animal, Mommy, animal!"

In one month (yippee!) we will be staying at the Swan with our now 2 and 4 year olds. We found that they loved Epcot last year, so that made the location seem perfect for us. Plus we get a reduced rate as teachers ($144) and several nights free with Starwood points. The rates for BC/YC and BW are just outrageous as we need two rooms (my mother comes along). I promise to write a full trip report on the Families forum when we get back March 9!

Good luck whatever you decide!

Where in Maine are you? Southern, middle or the frozen tundra area? We're in the southern section.

Have an awesome trip and thanks for the input! We thought about AKL, but I guess it's not one we're really into right now, although we'll probably go eat there sometime to get a sense of it. That's what we usually do to check out other resorts!
