We've stayed at all the places across the street but my husband says he wants to stay somewhere NICE this time. I really can't swallow the suite prices for the Grand Californian. Any suggestions for us that are walking distance? Has anyone had any luck with fitting 7 in a 1 bedroom suite at any of the Disneyland properties? Also, we are kind-of planning this last minute (mid-march trip) so several of the bigger rooms at the across the street hotels are already booked. Thanks!!

Have you thought of perhaps getting adjoining rooms nearby? As yes, last minute the bigger rooms will likely be sold out by now, especially as you get closer into spring break time. Sometimes two rooms in an offsite hotel can be cheaper than one room onsite.

The new homewood suites would work, but it's not within walking distance. Hyatt place by the convention center was nice too but again, not within walking distance.

We have five children and stayed in a large suite at the Hilton Doubletree. It was a short walk (under a mile) and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The suite had two separate rooms and both were large. We had two per bed and the baby was in a pack-n-play.

Depending on how much your willing to spend you could fit in a one or two room suite at DLH. I've never stay at PP but I'm sure they have the same set up.

A lot of these cap at 6, so be sure to keep that in mind when you do book. Hilton Doubletree sounds nice. I like the penthouse suite at the Residence Inn Maingate.

Penthouse Suite
Our Penthouse Suite has 1 bedroom with 2 queens/bathroom, sofa bed in living room, fully equipped kitchen, open loft with a king/bathroom located on the second floor of the suite.

The DIS Unplugged Podcast did a 7 in 7 where they visited various hotels, including the Residence Inn Maingate - it has excellent information:

What about the new Courtyard across the street with the water park? I think they have some larger suites.

I was just going to suggest that one. It's the Courtyard Themepark Entrance and it has a fantastic looking waterpark! I think I saw that one of their suites has a separate room with two bunkbeds, so that would be 4 twin-size beds for the kids, plus a king and maybe they could do a roll-away for you as well.

I've also looked at the photos of the PPH suites and they look to be the most spacious of the onsite hotels. I think the one-bedroom says it can accommodate up to 7 guests.

Good luck!
