it seems to me that it was an accident , they happen and i think you should just chalk it up to experience
im sorry you got hurt tho
yes, in america you sue over accidents - everything is an accident, fault or no-fault...
and just about anything is actionable in a court of law in the US...
(and yes, i AM an american - as any american knows, when in doubt, sue everyone in sight)...
yes, this was an accident....yes the other idiot was the cause..
however, the accident occurred on disney property and disney could be found to be liable...(that's why companies and individuals for that matter, carry insurance)...
that is how the law works in the US.......i have no idea how it works in the UK, but in the states, if an accident occurs on your property, you may be liable even if you did nothing "wrong".....even if nothing you actively did caused the accident........
bottom line, it's disney's ride....and someone got hurt on the ride....it doesn't matter how he got hurt....the fact is it was possible to get hurt and he got hurt....it is disney's liability (for which they carry massive insurance)..
having said that, there is little the OP can do after returning to the UK....
this should have been handled when still in the US...
as i've already noted, the most they would probably have received from disney would have been reimbursement of medical expenses - and possibly a small token gift of some kind....
however, even this is highly doubtful, once their vacation is over..
nevertheless, he should still write to disney, including the medical receipts, pictures, description and see what happens....he might be pleasantly surprised...(though i'd be really surprised if he gets any sort of response at all)...
