DH and I are thinking of making the big move to the sunshine state. He would be able to get a job with a local ambulance company.
Here is the problem.... We would need to find a great school system anda place that has a VERY low crime rate. We would need to be withing 1 hour of Largo Florida

Belleair is A beautiful town with A low crime rate and excellent schools.Very close to some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida and Largo is just to the south of it so not much of A commute at all.

Here is the link to the city and benifits:

I lived for a couple of years in Clearwater but didn't like the city much. I worked in Palm Harbor and loved it. If I were to go back to Tampa though I would live in the Hyde Park area (zip 33606). The Westchase area is also nice but I like the old-neighborhood feel of Hyde Park.

I LOVE Hyde Park! I second that vote. Another place to look would be Brandon. It's really coming along, and prices are really low. DH and I were looking at a 4/2.5 with a pool for mid 200's (passed on it, so still available LOL)

I vote for the Palm Harbor/Safety Harbor/Clearwater area. It's so beautiful. We lived for a year in Palm Harbor and now we are in Clearwater (although Safety Harbor is across the street.)

Kicking around here somewhere are a couple threads like this.

Hyde park is really nice!

Duneidin in Pinellas cry is really nice too!

Thanks everyone. It is so hard trying to make the move without knowing the area at all. DH has a job offer there anytime we want to move so it seems to fit our want to move a bit closer to our favorite place.
Our DS is almost 3 and we are thinking of making the move next year. We are going to rent and the rent out our house here in Boston.

We live in largo and love our neighborhood. We have not had any problems to speak of. We are within walking distance to Largo Middle and High schools. The high school has a wonderful magnet program called Excel.

Unfortunately Pinellas County does have a lot of crime as does Hillsborough County. Our area is good but there are definitely areas to avoid. I work for local law enforcement and I think I know the ambulance company you are referirng to.

Our neighborhood has a few homes for sale. If you want further info just send me a pm.

Also, I would avoid any commute that requires you to drive I-4. My husband drives I-275 everyday to Sarasota. It is 62 miles and takes him 60-75 min each way. I-4 seems to have more problems with traffic.
