We have always wanted to have our son's sketch made by one of the fabulous artists working inside the park. We are going to Disneyworld next week (can't wait) and was wondering if someone could tell us the best place and/or artist to get. I've noticed that they do the colored pencil sketches around the corner from the Liberty Tree Tavern and my brother says he's seen artists at Epcot. But I don't remember seeing them at Epcot. I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know where to go or where they've had a good experience. BTW, I want the regular sketches not those funny caricatures.

France -- I have seen sketch artists (can't recall if they were pastels or colored pencils) on the tables next to the lake in France and they were lovely!

We were going to do that for our DS's 3 and 5 in the MK. They have them on main street and also Liberty Square. Our problem was that they told us the kids would have to sit still for an hour. There was noway that was going to happen!

If you are staying at the GF or if not hop on the monorail. There is a sketch artist that does black and white and colored. She will take a digital picture or you can give her one that you already have, and she will have it for you in about 3 weeks. She charges I believe $85 per person ++ probably. She is usually there after 5pm, that was of course 3 weeks ago maybe it has changed. We were going to do it but decided to wait until our next trip, since we have 5 we wanted the younger ones to be a bit older before we spend that kind of money! My friend has one and it is beautiful, she is the one who told me we should do it. Hers is black and white and she says it is her most favorite picture of her 3 boys.

I can tell you two places that have great one is Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney. If you go earlier in the afternoon before the night club atmosphere takes place there is an open air shop set up almost directly across from the Harley Davidson store. my DH and I don't drink or do the club scene but we do want to take advantage of some of the shopping at the Harley Shop and such so we go in before all the club stuff starts up see what we want and get our DD out of there.Basically at that point you see nothing more than what you would at Epcot. The guy there did a pastel sketch of our daughter that captured her as close as a picture. Also at the All Stars Movies there is a guy that sets up there in the food court he does an awesome job.. :artist:

I remember reading a thread about a woman at the Boardwalk who is supposed to be very good. You could try the search function (although I don't think it works as well as it used to).

Do NOT use the one on Main Street in the MK. DD and I did and it was awful! I did not want a caricature but it looked like one. Skin tones were terrible, features exaggerated. I was so disappointed and so was DD. We went to City Hall to see what we could do because the "artist" had such an attitude. We were told that Disney DOES NOT own the sketch concession. The CM went with us to get a refund. By the way, she also thought it looked like a caricature. The woman at the concession also gave her attitude. The last time we saw them the CM was leading the artist toward a gate like a naughty child, she all but had her by the ear.
Not a good experience at all.

We had our girls done two years ago at the contemporary, just outside of chef mickeys. Very cute picture as them as princesses and the man was very good with them and quick. They were 3 and 5.

We had caricatures done at MK (in front of a restaurant to the right as you pass the big open area where characters are - the Brown Derby ?).

AWFUL. it was an older man. not good.

I didn't have a sketch done of my daughter but a silhouette. There was a sketch artist right beside the silhouette artist. They were down the alley by the Main Street Bakery. This was three weeks ago. The sketch artist was doing a pastel sketch of two sisters and they took turns posing. I watched him while my daughter was posing for the silhouette. If we had the time I would have had a sketch done. He was very good. I can't recall his name but he was quite young and had an accent which I think was French.
By the way the silhouette was well done too. I love it. It is a great souvenir too.

I am thinking that you can have it done at AKL as well :artist: , near the restrooms in the lobby. Does anyone know for sure?

There was an amazing woman working at the Beach club, near the gift shop. She did charcoal or pastels and her work was amazing. Very detailed and very accurate.
