Leaving for vacation next week (week in washington dc and baltimore). Big fan of oysters and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on best place to get them in Baltimore (especially if anyone knows of place that has happy hour specials on them like they do in New Orleans!):goodvibes

Many people talk about Bertha's in Fell's point. It is a really nice area to spend an afternoon also.

The other place that I know about is Faidley's in Lexington Market. I haven't had the oysters from there, but the crab cakes are #1.

Here's a story about the oyster bar from a couple of years ago.

I'm guessing you mean raw, right? I know my mom loves to be taken to Broadway Market for raw clams and oysters!

But me....:eek::scared1::scared:

Yep, raw! Spending two days in Baltimore and guessing we will spend most of it near the water area.

I don't think you'll be getting any local oysters. I'm pretty sure oystering is only allowed in the winter in Maryland.

But, Faidley's in Lexington Market does have a raw bar. The atmosphere is different, but I think everyone should try it at least once. And they do have the best crab cakes around.

I wouldn't send a tourist to Lexington Market...try Bertha's in Fells Point.

I really like Obrycki's. I'm pretty sure they have oysters on the menu, but I usually go for the crabs. They are so good!! My favorites are the ones served whole with spicy seasoning on them. The put a brown paper "tablecloth" over the table, give you a bib and a mallet, and dump them right in the middle of the table. Ugh! Just made myself hungry. Anyhoo.. back to oysters. Hank's Oyster Bar in DC comes highly recommended by a foodie friend of mine. I wasn't able to fit that in during my trip a few months ago.

Isn't there an old saying about "never eat oysters in any month without an "R" in it?

I would recommend Nick's in the Cross Street Market in Federal Hill. Safe area and many different choices. Bertha's in Fells Point are known for mussel's not oyster's. Faidley's is nice also but there are a lot of heroin zombies around there. Very sketchy area if your not street wise.:scared1:
