DH and I want to excape from the kids one night, but can't decide where to eat. We are going to order the kids pizza to the room.

Here are the places we are debating on:

Brown Derby
Coral Reef
Concourse Steakhouse
Futon's Crab House

If you have eaten at one of these please let me know what you liked or didn't like about it. I am also open to any suggestions....

Thanks!

Lori

I really liked brown derby, that would be a good one. so would california grill, or if you can really splurge, victoria and alberts! but of the ones you suggested, my fav is brown derby! :thumbsup2

DH an I LOVED the Concourse Steakhouse on our honeymoon. It was lovely (but not super-fancy) with great food (better than the Yachtsman Steakhouse we thought, but the YSH had better atmosphere). It was a tad loud what with Chef Mickey's just over the wall, BUT the Outer Rim Lounge right beside it was MARVELOUS for cocktails just before. Go around sunset and watch the gorgeous lake view from the lounge.

The Brown Derby is great too, but you get more of a park crowd (people with kids, people in tees and shorts etc...) But overall a NICE place.

The Coral Reef is probably the best themed of the choices. It's a little dark in there so that you can really see the aquarium, and then you can stroll around WS afterwards. VERY adult!
I'd pick either the Coral Reef or the Concourse Steakhouse.

I would also vote for the Brown Derby out of the places you mentioned. The Cobb Salad there is soooo good, and you could see Fantasmic afterwards with the dinner package.

I've never eaten at Fulton's, but the other two would not be my choice for a romantic dinner without the kids. The Concourse Steakhouse has pretty good steak, but its open design means that you hear all of the noise from Chef Mickey's.

I ate at Coral Reef a month ago, and it wasn't what I was expecting at all. We ate early (5 p.m.) with an ADR and made no special table requests, yet it still took 35 minutes for our family of 4 to be seated. I'm not exaggerating when I say that there were screaming and crying children EVERYWHERE. I think that parents of toddlers choose this restaurant thinking that the huge fish tank will keep their young children entertained. (That's why I chose it for my two-year old!) The novelty of the fish wears off with the long waits to be seated and get your food, and the kids' crying seems just seems to echo right off of the walls. It was LOUD when we dined there!

Would you consider California Grill or Artist Point? These seem like great "grown up" restaurants, and both have really yummy food.

HTH! Good luck, and enjoy your trip. :)

You didn't mention LeCellier in Epcot but it is perfect. Warm breadsticks and soup. Steak was great. Dark and romantic spot.

Brown Derby is nice, and also good food.
Fultons is over priced and not too great for what it is, it has hgoine down hill, if you want grown up seafood I'd go to Todd English's Blue Zoo at Swan/Dolphin (sorry always get it mixed up which one it is in).

Concourse is good, but it can get a bit noisey as it is right next door to Chef Mickey's

Also the Flying Fish at the board walk is great. very romantic! Make sure you make a reservation any were you go. :) have fun

I haven't eaten at Concourse, but I've been to the other three. DH and I did not like Fulton's.

Coral Reef has a great atmosphere, and if you made a later reservation, you might miss the kids...although there really is nowhere in Disney you can go and be guaranteed to not see kids. My sister and her husband had a wonderful Mahi Mahi here. I had a trout dish that I did not particularly care for, but I would go back.

Brown Derby is also nice. The service is fabulous, and I think the restaurant is fairly quiet, although I have sat in the outer edge on both visits, I don't know what the volume is in the center of the restaurant. The first visit, the food was excellent. The second visit, I was disappointed in my entree, the filet mignon, usually one of their signature dishes. However, we had a very nice time anyway.

That said, if I were picking an adults night-out place, I would pick California Grill, Jiko, or Artist Point. I have only eaten at CG (fabulous!) but the others are my sister's choices for special meals at Disney, and I trust her judgment.

along with those above, we would recommend artist point at the wilderness lodge, california grill at the contemporary, possibley yachtsman steakhouse, if you like mexican food, san angel inn at the mexican pavillion in epcot is good. hope these help :)

You have them listed in about the order I would rank them. None are especially quiet if that is any part of the "adult" equation. You may escape from your kids--but not others!!

Yes, just away from ours, other kids don't bug me(they better not I run a home daycare...lol) and it doesn't need to be romantic(never been the mushy type), just out. For two people who concider grocery shopping without kids a date we don't need much..... :rotfl2:

We do love a good steak though....yummmmm

Thanks for all the opinions and advice :)
