Where is the best place to eat lunch in Disney Studios? Is the place where you eat in cars there? That seems cool but is the food any good?

I think that is a matter of opinion. It is called SciFi Drive In--- while it is cool in there, we find the food to be just ok. Not bad, but not great. We have returned several times because it is a cool experience. We ate once at the 50s Prime Time Cafe and really loved the food and it was fun, we have decided to skip SF this time and go back to 50sPT. We also ate at Mama Melrose once quite a while ago, it was good, but we want good food and a fun atmosphere which we didn't find there to be there. There are other restaurants ther that get a lot of good reviews, but I can't comment as we have not been to any other TS. As for CS, our only awful dining experience we ever had in all our trips to Disney was there at ABC Commisary, I actually asked for my money back and got it after the manager agreed with us the food was not acceptable by is standards. I have read good reviews here so we may have hit a bad day, but it was so bad we won't be going back for a while.
There arn't as many choices as the otehr parks, so if yo uwant a TS, you should check the menus on Allears and make ADRs. Hope this helps...

I have to second the 50's Prime Time. The fried chicken is delicious. My youngest DD LOVED the meatloaf. I LOVE the brownie sundae! I can't wait until we go back. 3 weeks and counting! :cool1:

do you mean best food, or best theme?

Brown Derby is excellent food, Melrose is really good.

Sci-Fi is more like counter service food... good but heat lamp buffet type of stuff.

Very cool place to eat for lunch not for dinner in my opinion. Given a choice don't compare to Prime Time. Prime Time is good food & good fun.

Maybe we're just lucky, but we've always had good meals at Sci-Fi :thumbsup2

That said, the best food at DHS is Brown Derby

We've done well at all of the TS except for H&V, yuck! Will not go back. Same with ABC Commisary CS, it'll take a long time before I go back there. Our food last December was awful

Not fond of Pizza Planet, but that's just a personal preference, I don't like their sauce.

I love the popcorn vendor at MGM. Other than that, well..............

Only been to two of the TS restaurants Mama Melrosa and 50's PTC. I liked both of them. I found 50's to be a lot more fun (especially with a good CM). Mama Melrosa was not as lively, but still nice.

CS, I have eaten at many of them, but don't remember too much about them though. I guess that means they were neither good or bad.

We also love 50's Prime Time! The food there is soooo good, and the atmosphere is a lot of fun too. We'll definitely be going back on our next trip!

It's probably also the most expensive and, imo, the tiniest portions. The one time I ate there, we spent over $100 for our party of 3 (no alcoholic bevs, either!) and I was still hungry when I was done with my meal. The grapefruit cake IS awesome, though!

I really like Mama Melrose.

My favorite lunch place at DHS is 50sPTC. The milkshakes there are the best and the atmosphere is hilarious. :)

We love the Sci-Fi! Very fun, food is good. We haven't enjoyed the Prime Time as much but not bad. We just didn't get very fun servers. Brown Derby was expensive and too formal for us. We like dinosaur Gertie's soft serve ice cream too! Don't forget you can also ride the boats over to the Boardwalk area for more restaurant choices! Cindy

LOVE Sci Fi but only for the theming. The food is just ok. Dessert was good though!

Brown Derby was way too expensive in my opinion. The food was good, but not that good. I did love the grapefruit cake though.

You can't go wrong with Pizza Planet if you have kids. Just ordinary pizza, but a fun place to rest and cool off too.

Prime Time is slow, long waits and I've always had surly, miserable servers. If you are going there without kids, don't expect any fun from the theme.

Sci Fi is fun but depending on who you get stuck in a car with can make or break your meal. This past week, BF & I had to sit with a family and they were okay. But I've gone in the past and had to sit with people who were just obnoxious and so loud I couldn't hear the movies being shown.

Sci Fi does make a good burger.

How many people do they seat in each car? Would my family of 4 get our own? Just wondering... TIA ;)

We LOVED the Sci Fi and will be eating lunch again there on our next trip. DS even decided to make that his birthday lunch :)

I can't imagine having to share unless you were alone and maybe someone else was too. Our family had our two kids in the driver's seat and DH and me in the back seat. We couldn't have fit anyone else.

I agree. The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is great but the food is just mediocre. It is better to choose the Sci-Fi for lunch than dinner.

best place with kids, i would have to say prime time 50's !! lots of interaction, fun with the waitresses..all around fun!! The food at sci fi isnt great..my kids wouldnt even eat anything there!!!
