My daughter wants to make her own invitations and is asking me the best place to buy fancy paper. I have no idea. If It's Paper is the only place I've ever purchased that sort of thing and they've all gone out of business.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What are you wanting to do?

Stores like Office Max and Michael's have wedding invitation kits that you can print your "words" on it, and then you are done.

If you are wanting to "make" your own invites - scrapbooking stores have a wide variety of colors of papers, as well as vellums for layering.

Do you have an Archiver's anywhere close to you? They have "bridal workshops" that can give you great ideas. Some of there project ideas are here:

There are tons of on-line sites that offer "wedding invitation papers" i.e. if you are printing your own papers, inserts etc. I just don't know any, so don't want to give a bad recommendation.

Good Luck!

My brother and sister-in-law got theirs from Micheals and everyone thought they turned out great.

AC Moore or Michael's...using 40 or 50% off coupons...will be super inexpensive and the quality is great.

Or if you have a Christmas Tree Shop near you, start checking there. You can get a GREAT steal there if you hit it right.

Printing them out on your own on an ink jet printer works just fine. :goodvibes

We got samples from cardsandpockets.com

We ended up going with a local company and ordered through them, but they get their paper/pocketfolds from Envelopments (I think that's how its spelled). The paper/pocketfolds from Envelopments was amazing.

I made my own pocketfold invitations for my wedding. I bought the cardstock at A C Moore. They have sales and coupons all the time, just watch for them. I ended up spending $12.50 on all the paper for 150 invites. This included the pocket, matting and paper the info was printed on. The envelopes were from mygatsby.com from their clearance section and were about $20.

I don't know what kind of invitation your daughter wants to do. If she's looking to do a pocket or petal fold, you can also buy them premade at cardsandpockets.com.

This is similar to what mine looked like; it's the same idea. Mine was smaller, 5x6 when closed. But you can make each invitation for pennies. I'd just suggest buying a cheap paper cutter to make sure the lines are straight and all cuts are equal. I got a cheap one at A C Moore for $5.

You'd probably have pretty good luck at Michael's too, but their prices are not as good as A C Moore.

Paper Source (they have online and Brick and Mortar stores) has great paper in a variety of colors and sizes. The specialize in supplies fro DIY invitations.

Their paper and envelopes are very high quality.

We used LCI Paper for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah invitations. We did the Pochette style invitation and they turned out amazing. The people at the company were beyond helpful and we really liked their variety.

I design invitations for a living and I always use Paper and More. Great prices and paper and you can even buy samples! Love them

You may consider www.vistaprints.com. I looked at making my own and was able to get a great deal on my invites, that would be very similar to purchasing and making my own. I recommend signing up for the emails and letting them just roll in! I was able to get 100 beautiful color invites, envelopes, 96 seals for $86. I was able to get 4 sets of 140 address lables, 3 sets of 25 picture magnets, and several other items for free! They have some beautiful designs!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. One of DD's friend painted a map to the wedding location that is a work of art. It will be a nice collectible. That's her biggest concern. I think the invitation itself will actually be flat.

She is thinking of getting a stamp made with the text of the invitation and just stamping each of them in green on paper with some nice graphics around the text. I'm not explaining it very well. Her sample which was not stamped looked very nice.

She didn't think the invitation kits would meet her needs for the various pieces. So complicated!

We used Cards and Pockets for the printing of the invitations and inserts. They came out great! I then used a stamp to make them fancy. It was way easier then struggling with my own printer and having to cut them to size myself. They were great to work with.
