Can anyone tell me where I might find a nice princess dress for my daughter? (age 4.5)

I've done some browsing online, checked out ebay etc. (I'm not opposed to a gently used dress) I just don't know how to insure I'm getting a dress of decent quality. I read somewhere that WDW charges about $60.00 or so for a dress. I did some checking and the BBB seems to charge more.

Are there different kinds of dresses? Some just for dress up play and others of better quality?

I'm pretty sure I want a Cinderella dress that she can wear to meet the princesses when we go to WDW in March.

Any advice from other parents of dress wearing "Princesses" would be greatly appreciated!

Hi.. Both Target and Walmart have Disney princess costumes for about $15-$20 each. They are one size fits all and are secured via velcro rather than form fitting or buttons. THey are good for dress up and for a one time princess meal. There are also a few website or catologs that carry "disney princess" costumes, just do a search. I can not speak for the quality there.

Right now Disneyshopping has Snowwhite, Aroura and Ariel dresses for $25 and there is a special going on with code Holiday25 to get 25% off your order. The Belle and Cinderalle Deluxe costumes are now $45. My DD has the snow white costume from disneyshopping and the quality was very good. Not sure if the Disneystores have any customes left, but they generally carry them year round.

I would shop ebay if you feel comfortable with it.

I usually but dresses from the Disney Store during the sale after Halloween. Our store still has a few but they are very picked over now. I also just bought one on ebay that was new and from the Disney Store. If you are buying one on ebay make sure to ask questions before you bid. I really have had great luck on ebay, both buying and selling. I would just be sure all your questions are answered before bidding if you choose to go that route.

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of ebay but I'm a newbie. I'm actually "watching" a dress I'd really like to have, I just don't know how to determine the quality or whether or not it's a deal.... :confused3

Target has them in the doll section year around and the Target near WDW had a large selection. My dd loved hers it wasn't itchy like the ones at the Disney store.

Adding my 2 cents!! :)

I got my 2.5 year old daughter the one off disneystore.com (Item #48649M) It wasn't the deluxe one. She loves it!!! And it's not scratchy!!

I have also heard the Target ones are nice!!!

I was at Wal mart today, and they had alot of the Princess dresses but the stitching on the Cinderella dress showed at the top- like they needed to hem it or something. they were $19.97, I'm not sure of the quality. I didn't get it, as next year we will be using the same dress for DD4 for WDW- BBB on her bday, Disney cruise and Halloween. I need the dress to hold up. I think I will use EBAY and get a good one from Disneystore.

Hi
I bought my DGD's Cinderella dress at Walmart. They had a really good selection. It costs $17.49. It's the one in the picture in my signature. She wore it to BBB and then to 1900 Park Fare for the Cinderella dinner.

That's really cute. I'll have to check our walmart.

I bought the deluxe Belle dress from Disneyshopping.com. for my soon to be 4 yr old daughter to use at the pirate and princess party. It is by far the most beautiful, well made princess dress we own (and we have ALOT). It looks like it is currently selling for $45. Well worth the $$$!! I also bought the hooded cape to go over it in case it gets chilly (we are going in February). That is also really nice and goes well with the dress. Good Luck in your search!!

We got DD's Aurora dress to wear at CRT, from disneyshopping.com for $25. It seems to be of better quality than the dress up ones we found at Wal-Mart. It's softer and not as itchy.

We spent $60 for a Tink dress at WDW. DD wore it about a million times and then passed it on (not in perfect shape, but still decent) to a friend. She also had a Snow White dress that was $20 at WalMart. She loved it and wore it constantly, but the velcro closures left scratches on her neck and back and it was itchy. It didn't hold up quite as well, but still lasted a long time. SHE loved both dresses equally. If you could convince your daughter to wear a shirt (or tank or anything that would protect from the velcro) you'd probably be equally happy with a less expensive dress.

We just got rid of all our princess dress-up clothes (she was sooooo over princesses) but now DD wants a new dress for the Pirate and Princess Party in Feb. Ugh.

Do you sew or know someone who sews?

My mom is a seamstress, and she sewed DD twins their Snow White dresses (in my sig pic). I bought lightweight cotton material so that the dresses would be just like regular clothes. The store bought ones look really stiff, scratchy, hot, and uncomforable. :guilty:

We had many CM's ask us where we bought the dresses. My mom is an expert seamstress so their dresses don't look "homemade" at all. :goodvibes

Hi... here is another option.. They look very nice and run about $26 for a "disney-style" princess dress. I found this last year from a past. I have not purchased from this online store.

I got my 4yo DD the Cinderella dress from this website but it was on ebay and it's a very nice dress....not scratchy. If you want to search for it on ebay, the seller name is "mydressuptrunk" The price on ebay (if you factor in shipping) is $1 less so I don't know if it matters which one you choose.

HLDisney (leaving for WDW tomorrow!!!!!) :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :Pinkbounc

Little Dress Up Shop is awesome! Very fast shipping, and the dresses are very good quality and NOT scratchy AT ALL.

I got my DD the Belle, Ariel, and Snow WHite ones. The Ariel dress is by FAR the cutest Ariel/Little Mermaid dress-up/costume dress I have ever seen. It's just DARLING. Much nicer than the expensive Disney Store ones, IMHO. Plus, it's unique-looking, and looks "truer" to Ariel's "real" outfit....
