Anyone have any insights as to which is the best location to book a 2 hour fishing excursion? (my dad, husband, two stepsons (21, 18) and if I can convince them our (will be) three year old son).
We've only done this once a couple weeks ago so I only have that experience to opine on but we left from the Contemporary Resort and it worked out great. We were driving our own car so we parked there and walked through the hotel to the marina. We were there waiting when the guide pulled up on his boat right there. We got lots of big fish even though is wasn't perfect conditions or anything. It was really a great and fun experience. The guides do all they can to make sure you catch fish. It was a surprise for my husband's birthday.
Anyway, the thing that kind of surprised me was that at the end, he had to take us over to Fort Wilderness where we got off the boat and I paid there and then he drove us back to the Contemporary. He said all the fishing excursions are actually run out of their office there at the Fort marina. I asked him if in the future we should book there and he said that really the Contemporary is easiest for the guest and equally easy for him. I guess because if we started from Fort Wilderness we'd have had to use the internal bus system to get to the marina. He mentioned fishing at Epcot too but said that the easiest fishing and chances for the biggest fish are there around the Magic Kingdom. Plus we did the 10:00am excursion and he mentioned that at Epcot, you have to be out pretty early before the World Showcase opens.
This was one of the coolest things that we did on our trip. It was really special. Even four year old DD loved it and caught lots of fish herself.
Also, there's a 20% off coupon in the Birnbaum book. I bought the book specifically for the coupon. It was about 12 bucks on amazon and the coupon saved over $50.
