Hi all,

I have a DSLR that I adore...but hubby and I want a good "point and shoot" digital for our son. He's a responsible kid so I don't mind spending a few hundred $...I just want something that will take good pictures for him (so he keeps his mits of my DSLR!).

We had a old Cannon Asomething power shot that took OK pictures...but it finally gave up the ghost.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Karen

I have a Nikon DSLR and an old Olympus P & S (not even made anymore!) that works for me. One thing to keep in mind is one with a viewfinder. For Christmas we got the in-laws a Panasonic FZ3(?). It is a pain to use on sunny days beacuse of the glare on the back of the camera.

Also got my wife a Panasonic TZ18(?) (w/electronic viewfinder) that she absolutely loves. I am sure the next generation of these cameras is already out. Check out dpreview.com and other review sites for the complete scoop.

I have a Nikon D50 for my SLR that I LOVE but I also like to have a P & S for times when I don't feel like risking the "good" camera :rotfl:

I had a Kodak Easyshare that was 5 yrs old w/ 4 megapixels and wanted to upgrade. I kept reading reviews on different P & S's and finally ended up buying the Canon PowershotSX100.... I LOVE it! I'm absolutely amazed by the photos this little camera takes!!!! Here's a link to it:

I love the 10X zoom :)

I just bought the SX100IS recently too and love it! It takes great pictures and videos. I use to have the Canon Powershot A70, so this is easy to understand just like it only better quality and that 10x zoom is great!

My wife and I just bought a Sony DSC-H50 Cyber-shot. We haven't messed with it a whole lot, but it had great reviews. Not real expensive either. Just another option I thought I'd throw in there.
