What is the best brand / style of pen to have for characters to sign your book? I know it should be a "fat" pen so they can grip it, but other than that, any advice? I was thinking about sharpies, but am afraid they're too much like a marker and bleed through? My book had card stock if that helps. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

This is our first trip to Disney, so I'm not 100% sure if it will work, but I'll share what I'm doing re: autographs. I got one of those small clipboards from Staples ($1.20) and I'm putting my pre-cut cardstock in a ziploc bag with a retractable Sharpie velcro-ed. When we get to a character, my grand plan is to whip out the clipboard with cardstock and pen already in place. Hopefully, it will save some time and be easy for the characters. When we get home, we'll do a little autograph book with a picture on one side and the autograph on the other.

I hope it works!

When our grandkids did the books, we got the big fat pens in the stores in resorts. They were Disney characters and were big enough to let the characters that had costume hands handle. Or go to Walmart and get the large pens there. We only did the laundry marker sharpee pens if we were letting the characters autograph their Disney hats.

I bought a big fat pen at the dollar tree filled with water and glitter. It was big so they could grip it and they would shake it and look at the glitter (fun for my daughter). It was perfect and cheap and easy for the characters.:goodvibes

Last year I found some fat ballpoint pens, with the 4 different colors of ink. You know the ones, where you push down the little colored levers at the top? I think I got a 3-pack at Dollar Tree. My daughter played with one on the plane, then we kept the other two in the bag for autographs. A couple of the characters (the ones with more dexterity) would use all the colors, like one letter in each color.

I also found one like that at Target in the dollar spot recently - it's princesses with a cord on it. They probably wouldn't still have them, although Target did have some Disney stuff there the other day.

I need to find those pens for our trip! I'm also throwing in a couple of retractable sharpies.

I got retractable Sharpie markers this year- they were great! No caps to worry about. DD likes the nice bold lines of a Sharpie more than a ballpoint pen.

We always get the autograph books at Disney, it's almost a tradition, I pack the retractable Sharpies, just like sandymandr said no caps is a great big plus! I always try to move my DD along and get out of the way for the next person, with caps I was always fumbling trying to get everything back in my waist bag ( I got one big enough for the autograph book at walmart). I always buy several different colors because I scrapbook and like to be able to use different colors.

We used the pens withthe 4 different color inks. They worked perfectly and I found them at the dollar tree too.

Retractable Sharpies!!!!! I brought 4 different colors with me last year and kept them in a ziplock with the autograph book.

We love using the 4 color pens also! They have the 4 color pens that do pastel colors in the stores at the resorts at WDW. DD will choose the color based on the character signing (blue for Cinderella, pink for Aurora, etc).

But the retractable Sharpies don't bleed through the autograph books you buy at DW?

You need a big fat pen so the characters can hold them:) . Little ones are hard with those big hands. We found pens for our last trip that were like sharpies, but bigger. If you buy the Disney autograph books therea are so many pages you could skip one. I will say we never had a problem with it since the pages are also thick. We just used a new page for every autograph, so the back of each sheet was not used and we had a ton of room for more autographs when we left.
