Hello Disney Fans,

DW and I are wondering what are some of the best options for staying offsite that would be a 2 bedroom option?
We have stayed offsite numerous times but always seem to have extended family with us so it has been easy to rent 4 or 5 bedroom options at Windsor Hills to accommodate our travel party size.

So it's a new adventure for us to look at best options for 2 bedroom places offsite as this would suit our travel party of 4.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

We like Hawthorn Suites on Canada Ave. They have penthouse suites at a reasonable price for 5+ day reservations. We are staying there next August for a week (6 nights) when we are doing a WaterParks Only Disney vacation (to make use of our annual waterpark passes before they expire..) It has a great breakfast that is included in the price. $752.72 including tax for 6 nights. Hawthorn Suites have a shuttle to the parks, but be warned that they only have a couple of shuttle times each day. We've made use of Hawthorn 2 or 3 times, but only for Universal Studios park visits. We still like to stay on property when going to the Disney Parks to have access to the Disney Transportation System.

We have always stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages on International Drive. It's wonderful and has everything a family needs! 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen, 1100sf.... lots of swimming pools, close to the outlet mall, about a 15 minute drive to WDW.

We have stayed here multiple times and will be going yet again.... can't beat the price either, we just got a 2 bedroom for $159 a night!

Would definitely check out the vacation rental properties in and around Disney. There are probably thousands to select from and from my small sample size of three different properties I have yet to be disappointed.

I’m partial to Airbnb (have used them in Barcelona, Hawaii and California as well) but you can use other tools or go directly to the property pages.

Hi we like both the Vistana Villages and Vistana Resort. Also the Floridays resort is nice as well.

What would you consider to be the "best option"?

You mention having stayed in the past in Vacation Rental type properties in Windsor Hills. Is that the type of thing you are looking for? There are smaller vacation rentals available.

If you want something a little more resort like, think about the timeshare resort type properties. These tend to bridge the difference between a rental villa and a suite hotel, with tons of space, resort amenities, although generally not daily housekeeping. All of the major timeshare/hotel chains have excellent properties in the area. Some of the most popular are the Sheraton Vistana properties already mentioned as well as those from Marriott, Hilton and Wyndham. Wyndham's Bonnet Creek has the biggest following here, but I too am partial to Sheraton Vistana (Resort over Villages for us).

Next step would be down to a suite hotel. These are more hotel like and a room is about the size of a double hotel room. But they generally include include a daily breakfast buffet and daily housekeeping. Popular options here on DIS include Lake Buena Vista Suites, and a couple of the Downtown Disney hotel options.

The important thing is to understand the differences between the options and then picking the best one that falls within your price range. We prefer high end timeshares because you tend to know what to expect from the major top-tier brands. Orlando is so competitive that the big guns have some really exceptional properties available at great prices.

I was going to say Windsor Hills, in the condos. But since you already stayed there, that may not be what you’re looking for. But we loved it there! Nice easy walk to the pool and super close to Disney!

Thanks all for the replies. bankr63 was wondering about you rating the Sheraton Vistana Resort ahead of the Villages? Thanks for your feedback.

We just got back from Vistana Resort. I preferred our stay last year at Bonnet Creek over this year at Vistana. We don't use the amenities much and just preferred the room at Bonnet Creek more.

IMO, it really depends on what you are looking for; will you be going to the parks every day or will you be going to parks a few days but also staying at the rental / resort / whatever that you rent. Are you only visiting Disney or are you visiting other parks and attractions in the area? Do things like water slide, lazy river, clubhouse with movie theatre, etc have any appeal to you. What's your budget? Will you have a car?

Personally, I'd look on AirBnb but even there, you'll find tons of variety so you need to narrow down what you are looking for.

Our first ever timeshare stay was at Vistana Villages, and it really opened our eyes to the timeshare concept. We have stayed at many others since then, and we did eventually buy a fixed March break at Vistana Resort (also have a floating week in a larger 3BR at Silver Lake Resort).

As I said, both the Sheratons are great resorts, but we prefer SVR over SVV for a couple of reasons. First, it is older, and we own in one of the oldest sections. As the timeshare concept matured, the unit density went up (taller buildings, closer together) and space went down. We prefer the more spread out feel of the older sections; our unit is a lot more like a townhome than an apartment with a 2 storey layout and a parking pad at the door. But in that we are probably the minority, as most people seem to want the newer taller buildings with elevators and tighter parking in a lot downstairs. Resort has 2 large sections built in the newer style (Cascades and Lakes) whereas all of the sections at Villages are like that.

Also, since SVR is a fair bit bigger (probably double the acreage), there are inherently more amenities. That makes it easier to find a quiet spot at one of the seven pools (the bigger ones are usually busy, but the smaller ones are very relaxed), provides a few more options for dining and drinks, allows for jogging or walking on property, and if you love tennis, there are always courts available.

Thanks for the comparison bankr63 good to know for the differences between the Sheraton properties.

To Michelb good questions. From our big family trips when we stay at Windsor Hills, we have gotten into the routine of visit a park and ensure the next day is always "something else" other than a theme park. We stretch our finances a little bit to make our trip 9-11 days, as one time we did a 7 day trip and felt "rushed" to visit all the parks, did one day at Universal and our down day was at Disney springs. So we like to enjoy a place like Windsor hills where there is a clubhouse, pool, playground for the kids etc. So definitely for this upcoming trip we will want to enjoy the resort amenities as much as possible. We will have a car and will try and find something under $200 a night. Thank you
