best option for 6?

my friend is thinking of going to wdw soon. They are a family of six, baby is under two. What are the options for them?

Any room that allows 5 plus an infant and that is actually a lot of different choices these days (a few years ago rooms for 5 were much harder to come by). They've added sleeping spaces via Murphy bed type things in various resorts and villas. I can't list all the places here because I'm not as familiar with the moderate resorts. Do you know what resort level they would be considering?

Unless they are dead set on staying onsite I would recommend renting a house/townhouse nearby.

On site, they could stay at Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach Resort, Fort Wilderness. Or they could go Deluxe and stay in a standard room at the Poly or Wilderness Lodge, or a Studio villa at the Poly or Wilderness Lodge. Some 1 bedroom villas will sleep 5+baby as well.

A standard room at WL will only hold 4+infant. Most of the deluxe have rooms with daybeds for 5+infant but not WL or AKL.

Add AllStar Music to this list. It's a value with some suites that will work for them.

Have her put in her dates and the guests/ages into the WDW site and they will come back with options.

By Disney's reckoning, they're a family of five, since kids under 3 don't count against the room occupancy limits.

At the values, only a family suite at AoA or ASMu would work for them.

At the moderates, standard rooms at POR or CBR or a FW cabin would work.

A standard room at any deluxe except AKL and WL would be OK.

If it was me I would look into FW Cabins. Have wanted to stay there for quite awhile but haven't been able to justify taking a cabin from another family for only 2 people (my sister and me....my adult son and me)

I would question staying at the Poly in a studio villa. We just had a stay in a studio villa as a family of 4 and we were a bit cramped. Plus you only have access to one bathroom. I would suggest a studio maybe at Kidani Village if you can rent points from a DVC member as you'll have 2 bathrooms there. It will make it a bit more manageable. You can also get two rooms at Poly that will work as well or see if you can rent a DVC 2 br villa.

I think 6 in a studio villa at Poly is pretty equivalent to two of the other options (CBR, POR), and gets a transport advantage. 6 in anything short of a 2BR villa or AoA is tight. It's about what trade-offs they want to make: time, transport, space, money.
