Best offsite hotel

I would suggest you take a day and go to Knotts Berry Farm. It's about 6 miles from Disneyland, and it's the 1st amusement park in the USA. :thumbsup2 I would go to Knotts before Disneyland. Have a good time.

Thanks specialks! I've tried using the AAA discount. Hmmmm, my trips must have just been different dates.

Well, the Candy Cane Inn fits all those items. Although, the pool is "nice" it isn't fancy or special or themed. We didn't swim so I can't say how it was but we ate breakfast by the pool every morning.

You can see my reviews (with pics) of Embassy Suites South and Candy Cane Inn in my sig below.

I enjoy trying out new hotels but we are staying at CCI again this November because we like the free breakfast and short walk to DLR. Sometime I'd like to try Hojos just to compare.

Yikes, what I meant by the above is, I would go to Knotts before I went to Disneyland because if I went to Disneyland before Knotts, I would be disappointed with Knotts. I would save Disneyland for the last, because it is the best! :cool1:

Thanks to everyone for their help. We ended up going with something cheaper in Anaheim so we could do a couple days at a more expensive place in Huntington Beach.

Off topic, but Nick, are you on the Vegas board?

Phew ~ my thought from your 1st post was - WHAT?!? :scared1:

Nick what hotel in A did you end up choosing?

i love the Anaheim Sheraton. I usually only pay $129.00 and it is a beautiful hotel with it's own shuttle and nice restaurant. Has a high class feel at a low price.

Don't forget that the Candy Cane also offers an exclusive shuttle to the park.

To the OP, on a side note, using the word "resort" with off-site hotels is kind of misleading. Most people want a place that is clean, cheap and close to the parks. You're not going to find what I would consider "resorts" near the park. However, you have been given many good suggestions. Hope you find some place that you'll be happy.

We hace stayed at the Homewood Suites multiple times and really enjoyed it. Just recently they started having a private (not an ART bus) shuttle to the parks, which is great (it's too far away to walk).

There are great reviews on trip advisor. The pool is nice, free breakfast and internet- however I do believe you have to pay to park...

Here is a link to my Homewood Suites photos (but there are a lot more on trip advisor)

Does anyone know if the Homewood has a private shuttle, of is it shared?

It seems like you are looking for something like the Hyatt, which is a true resort with a free shuttle. A lot of motels mentioned are fine, but not resorts. They are more travel lodges or motels.

You can often get a very good deal on the Hyatt Orange County--sometimes using Priceline.com.

Look at the pictures here to see if this is what you are looking for:

Homewood has a shuttle it shares with one other hotel.
ART picks up across the parking lot next door.

No snow in Utah, so skiing is a no-go, instead we might be going on an impromptu trip DLR trip next week! :cool1: So no VGC/on-site stay for us, :worried: this one is on a budget, still very excited to be headed to the Land!

The Anaheim Marriott is coming up $113 for our stay, and the Hyatt Regency is coming up $106. Normally the Marriott's a no-brainer for me since we are hardcore Marriott Rewards people (I'm silver, my mom is platinum) and we really have liked our stays in the rooms at the Marriott Anaheim but the shuttle over at the Hyatt is calling my name ...

At the Marriott the plan would be to walk to the park in the morning, maybe through Gardenwalk for the scenery, then cab back to hotel at night (cheaper than ART tickets for 3 of us, DH, DS5, and me), or possibly vice versa am/pm. Hyatt's shuttle is now $4 for adults per day but free for kids, so transportation becomes a wash price-wise. Anybody know how often/late the shuttle runs?

Any opinions from people who have stayed at both? Super shuttle is cheaper than a rental car, so will pay no parking fees. Few more restaurant options near the Hyatt also in its favor ... its just so far away!
