Forgive me if this has already been discussed anywhere but is there a thread that rates the top anything and everything at the resort as voted by posters?

I'm trying to pick where to eat, what not to miss, what to see, where to stay, etc. Thanks :worship:

I don't think there's such a thread :confused3 just review threads for restaurants, hotels

I'm sure years ago someone did do a big vote type thing on here.

But my DLRPs not to miss are:

- BTM as I think it's the best of the 3 I've been on (WDW & DLR being my comparisons)
- POTC for the same reason.
- Phantom Manor as it is quite different from the US ones, not better, but different.
- The dragon under the castle - unique to DLRP and a great touch. :)
- Space Mountain as it's completely different to the US ones.

Other than that just walk around and enjoy the differences. I don't think any of the DLRP restaurants are particularly groundbreaking so that's why I've not listed them. There is an EoS in the Village now though! And you're staying in the best hotel so you're covered there. :)

The best thing about the DLH is breakfast over looking the park. :) I will miss that on my next trip.

Have a wonderful time. X

Generally Walts is a very popular restaurant as are inventions and cafe mickey for the characters.

There are lots of shows in the studios in particular cinemagique and animagique which are well worth watching. Tarzan in the chaparral theatre is good too if it is on when you go. For rides our favourites are BTM and POTC.

I agree definitely dont miss

BTM - its on an island so totally different to WDW and DL

Phantom Manor - Read the storyline first. The manor is in Frontierland and the whole of that land is based on an old town Thunder Mesa. The owners of the mine (BTM) lived in the manor and the story is based around them.

POC - again better than WDW and DL- the drops are bigger and the story is the other way round to DL (I cant remember WDW) in that the caves are last

SM - The ride goes upside down here

Alice is different as is a maze

You can go upstairs in the castle and onto the balcony. Theres also the resident dragon in the dungeon

Adventure Isle is also worth exploring if you have time

The whole park is very picturesque compared to WDW and DL

In the studios

Cinemagique and Animagique are worth seeing and Crush is a very popular coaster

As for restaurants there is Walts on Main Street which is full of memorabilia and photos. the entrance and lift are said to be modelled on Club 33 in DL

Blue Lagoon is also inside the POC ride but is way better than Blue Bayou in that you walk through caves to get there so really feel you are on a Caribbean beach

There isn't really a "Best of" - mostly because everyones tastes are different ect. Such things are always taken with a bit of a grain of salt. But I'll try to be broad

Best Hotels

Personally I love all the hotels for various reasons, though Santa Fe is a bit hard to appreciate, due to the sparse looking design, Cheyanne is wonderful to look at - but breakfast there can be like a mad charge (plus lack of much extras, but the best of the budget hotels)

Personally I love Sequoia Lodge over the other hotels. It's just the right price, and feels the most relaxing of the hotels to me. Others like Newport for its huge pool and seafaring theme, while others enjoy the swankier New York.

Of course the one everyone aspires to go to is Disneyland Hotel, which is certainly the best. But only if you can afford it, (seems like your going there already heh)

Best Rides

Disneyland

Pirates of the Caribbean
Big Thunder Mesa
Phantom Manor
Buzz Laser Blast
Storybook Boats (if it's open!)
Space Mountain
Autopia (try riding it at night!)
The riverboat ride (serious, theres some great views on that ride)

Walt Disney Studios

Crush's Coaster
Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller
Stitch Live
Animagique
Cinemagique
Toy Story Playland (if just for the scenery, though the rides are pretty decent)

Best Restaurants

(Best Character Interaction & Best Buffet) Inventions at Disneyland Hotel
(Best "Budget" Character Meal) Cafe Mickey in the Village
(Best Budget Buffet) Parkside Diner at Hotel New York
(Best Restaurant for Food) Oooch, flip a coin between Walt's and Silverspur Steak House in Disneyland Park
(Best Variety) Agrabah Cafe in Disneyland Park (many exotic buffet items)
(Best Atmosphere/theming) Blue Lagoon at Disneyland Park
(Best Breakfast) Toss up between Inventions (for food items) and Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast (because early park entry!)
(Best Counter Service) Matter of debate depending on your tastes, but I like Toad House the best - some lovely Fish and Chips

Mind in the case of the restaurants, with the 20th looming a LOT of restaurant changes will be taking place come April (I imagine it will, they usually use the new celebration as the time to change their menus)

Can't add much more to the above but...

If you can afford it and like 'nouvelle cuisine' (very fancy food) then try California Grill at the DLH for the evening.

Not sure when you are going but if you are going when the 20th celebrations start this should be a great place to be on an evening (if you are there at the right time for Dreams!).

I've not really heard a bad thing about it on the reviews etc (if you like that kind of food). I haven't been myself as I always go with my young children (not really a children's restaurant), but I am still debating it as an option for us on our November trip as we will be celebrating a special wedding anniversary while there :lovestruc and my parents can babysit :cool1:.

Have a look at the food reviews for some idea of the place.
