Best of Rome no longer available??!

I'm booked for August 12 Mediterranean cruise.
I went to book my excursions today and could not find the best of Rome Tour.
They did have a Vatican, Colosseum and catacombs tour which is close but still not the same.
Does anyone know if they no longer offer the best of Rome tour?

I got hold of a supervisor for the Disney cruise line and she said it is not being offered but she does not know why and will try and find out for me.
She said possibly it could be offered at a later date but she does not know.
I really wanted to see the Sistine Chapel but there are no tours for that as of now.

How long it's the cruise going to be in Rome? Maybe it's because it's not enough time, we did that tour in 2014 and it was so good. The only thing I can change its that we didn't have free time to shop, the lunch was included on the price and we spent like an hour and a half at the restaurant.

I still see it as an option that may be offered on Med cruises. Possibly they can't get it for your particular cruise. Possibly the time in port doesn't allow that long an excursion. Any number of reasons.

There could be something going on that affects the ability to get into the Sistine Chapel that day.

Goes 10.5 hours so its pretty much the same length of time.
I'm glad there still doing the Coliseum but really wanted the Sistine Chapel too.

You could just check independent tours for it to see if ANYONE has it available that day. There could be something happening that day closing it to visitors.

If you're comfortable on your own you can see them in that time. We traveled with my parents (70yo) and my son 18. We used Rick Steve's guide book and made our way by train into Rome and metro directly to the Colosseum. Purchased the tickets near the forum for forum and Colosseum admission. We listened to Rick's podcasts on our ipods/iphones as he described everything. (Things are marked inside the Colosseum that correspond to the podcast.) We then traveled to the Vatican where we had a lovely lunch seated outside then prepaid admission (done online) to the museums and Sistine chapel. From there we took a cab to Trevi fountain. We did it this way because Rick recommended getting on the train at the stops before The Vatican because there are many people getting on before this stop and few seats left. We had a great time.

Are you in port on Wednesday? Last time I was in Rome, seem to remember they close at noon in the summer. They are open but only to select few travel operators.

We were there on a Wednesday in June and the Pope addresses the people. There were hundreds of folding chairs and two big projection screens. However, we were aware of this and toured the Colosseum and Forum first so the crowds were gone when we got there in the afternoon.
